Single Release: Viator

As usual I put too much work into these releases, this one I worked on for about 3-4 months. I would like to produce them more efficiently, but that requires being experienced with editing vocals and I'm still a newbie relatively speaking. That, and I'm too much of a perfectionist. But I'm learning the tools of the trade, and I'm slowly becoming less and less neurotic about every little detail, at least that's how I feel at the moment.

Viator is a one of a kind track, it's the ending song of the movie "Maquia: When the Promised Flower Blooms", originally sung by rionos. The lyrics, the melody, it's all completely gorgeous and perfectly encapsulates the ending and mood of the movie in my opinion. I remember that the whole cinema cried during that ending, including myself. As I heard the song, I was struck by how high the notes go (in the singer's main melody). And I thought to myself "no way I will find someone who can perform that in the original pitch, I will have to transpose it down a few steps". Well, I was wrong!

I feel lucky to have been introduced to JoyDreamer through a mutual friend, and that she accepted my project proposal. She was an absolute dream to work with; patient, efficient, kind, and most importantly; she delivers impeccable vocal performances and artwork. She was gracious enough to draw up the artwork for free for our single, I only added the text. This is my favorite sort of collaborative work, where both parties get to contribute to more than one process. And of course I was happy it relieved me of having to go through extra time and funds to create the artwork as I normally have to do. Joy even translated the English version herself, giving us that extra track to fill out the single.

Needless to say, I'm very happy with this collaboration and I hope you will enjoy it as well! It will become available on streaming services over the weekend but the performance video and announcement won't be due for another 2 weeks.
