Here is what you need to get started:
2x short light blue wig (I bought mine from neshtoto)
1 pink weft hair ext. (I had a kanekalon type, usually used for braids)
1 medium sized hair bun base
Hairspray
Light blue thread and a big needle
When I started working on my Qiyana, there were no reference photos/videos except the splash, animation/ trailer. I designed it based on the animation.
¹,² Purchase the missing materials. I got my wigs from a local carnival shop and were super cheap. Place one of them on the styrofoam head. Secured with pins.(optional, but it is easier to work with a headbase)
Cut bangs, near eyebrows length.
³ cut a small piece of your pink weft and tie with a tiny hairband at the end.
⁴Tape the fuzzy end with a regular tape. This will help when you need to attach it to the base wig.
⁵Find the top stitch of your wig and define your bangs.
⁶Make small hole in the wig base, just where your fringe is gonna start.
⁷Take your pink section and put in the tiny hole.
⁸You can either stitch it there or you can pull the end to stay as a part of the fringe. If you decide to do the latter (like I did), sew/glue both the top hair piece and the bottom to the base.
⁹It will look similar to this. Trim the pink edges and style to match the blue base.
¹⁰Hair bun is next.Take your bun base & 2nd wig.Basically you need to find the top stitch of the wig and center it onto the bun base. Then tuck it inside and hairspray until it stays in place.
¹¹Then you have to do the same things with the pink part you did on the base-cut a piece, make a hole, place it in the tiny hole, sew in place and tuck the excess in, hairspray to stay in place.
¹²Place the bun on the base.Make sure it is centered and pin it to the styrofoam head.
You need a big and long needle to be able to sew the bun on the base wig. Make sure you are stitching both bases to each other, not just sections of hair. You can secure the bun if you think it's needed with bobby pins.
Aand voila! Easy and cheap.
