I've been super stressed this past week! 😱
I haven't openly talked about it, but when I was cutting the butterfly pieces, I injured my right thumb. I hit a nerve, and my thumb has been numb and swollen for a week now. I didn't stop working on my projects despite my injury.
Anyway, I will live. It is not something major to worry about.
I managed to make most of my obi. I wasn't sure how it would turn out because I couldn't find the right fabric for it. I had to get something similar in texture and repaint it. Then I had to draw all of the details symmetrically by hand. I still have to sew it all together. Unfortunately, I ran out of fabric paint, and I couldn't finish the lower part of the ribbon. I must say that I am super happy with the outcome so far!
The flames are made out of 0.1mm EVA foam, that I got from Akihabara, during my stay in Japan. I'll probably glue them to the fabric, once I finish painting the whole piece.
I used a 0.4mm copper wire and a turquoise cord for the inner ribbon. I wasn't happy with the thickness of the cord. It was way too thin, and it couldn't stay in shape, so I decided to wrap it around the copper wire. The tassels are also handmade.
I might be able to finish the costume by the end of the month. 🙈🤞🏻
