Then she could have crawled away while nobody was watching them -- as they would have assumed she had died -- and she would get away to become some wild card or at least cause a distraction to help out the cop or something at some other critical time (even if by accident as she tries to steel the money from the plastic ball, which would also be like her). That would have been a cool twist -- and not unrealistic.
