TXT | The Name Chapter: TEMPTATION Review

I knew I would adore this album from the start because Peter Pan has a special place in my heart but not just the traditional Disney side to it. The original JM Barrie story is speculated to be inspired by the tragedy of his brother dying before his 14th birthday and as a result, never grew up. The sadness of growing up without him, he felt like he left him behind. It's why Peter hates grown ups. They leave him. And through that tragic story a picture is painted of Pan becoming a bitter, lost, scared and angry boy who will steal children away with the promise of adventure and telling them they'll never grow up. These children go with him to neverland and realise if they stay there they will die and Pan becomes a dark being who's angry and sad and throwing a tantrum because his friends are leaving him again. The lost boys are the boys who stayed and never grew up. Its dark and tragic and whimsical in a morbid way. I love it. So Devil by the Window could be interpreted as Peter Pan being the angel of death, stealing away the souls of these 5 boys by tempting them into the sky to a magical realm full of things they desire and Sugar Rush Ride is them enjoying Neverland up until they start to realise the cost of this adventure. If they stay, they'll die. GET AWAY! Farewell, Neverland is them escaping, growing up and realising this was all a lie, an empty promise. They hoped for endless flying and now they're free falling. "I'll say my final goodbyes, my Peter Pan." Devil by the Window and Farewell, Neverland are easily in my top 5 TXT tracks. Probably top 3.

After hearing this album a couple of times I feel my favorites are Farewell, Neverland and Devil by the window. I looove how TXT is constantly exploring new sounds but they can manage to keep their essence in all their releases. It is impressive. I'm really proud of them.

The way every album of theirs is so unique but at the same time so txt-like... I'm always so impressed. And when you fully dive in into their lore or even storytelling for each particular release it literally blows your mind how the lyrics, visuals and even music are interconnected. So full of references and symbolism since the day they debuted. More people should appreciate the effort that goes into txt storytelling. Their creative team is top notch.

I am not even a TXT stan but i swear Tinnitus and Farewell Neverland just bring out a whole new side of me. I love love love these songs. Both these and Opening sequence are definitely the top 3 best b-sides of TXT.

Concept albums always seem to make it to my favorite overall albums. I love how this album tells a story and also hints at their next album which Taehyun likes to keep reminding us that Farewell Neverland/the concept trailer/ end of the music video is one huge hint. They performed Happy Fool during their comeback show (just without Coi Leray) im hoping she makes an appearance during their tour to perform it. (My guess the LA show like with how Salem and iann came last year) If you watch any live stages I highly recommend the first music bank performances (dated 1/27) for Devil by the Window and Sugar Rush Ride. Do not watch inkigayo as your first time watching the performance since the camerawork spoils some of the choreography for Devil. Easily my new favorite TXT choreo and maybe song. I don’t know I can’t honestly pick a favorite 😅

This album I think replaced my previous fav TXT album. As a whole from start to finish it is just so good all together. My fav song is Farewell, Neverland. The live stages for Sugar Rush Ride and Devil by the Window (they were performing both the first week I think) have all been so good and the choreo for both are amazing.
