The anime like speed ran it in S1. It doesn't get better as it goes on. I actually dropped in a few eps into Root A as I was also reading the manga. I heard Re was worse too. The anime is a poor adaptation overall as the original stories/characters are very complex and intricate but they basically cut and pasted for the anime. You get the overall theme but it's not very good in terms of linear storytelling. My best analogy is 1984 DUNE vs the books. S1 is interesting enough that it gets you to read the manga which is superior. But if you guys stick with the rest of the seasons, I'll stay for the ride.
