Arthur Machen: submitted for the approval of the Midnight Society, I call this the tale of the bowman
Machen: about how some ghostly Agincourt archers appeared out of the heavens to save a troop of British soldiers in world war 1
King: oh yeah the angels of mons, I've heard of them
Machen: of course you have
Machen: because i invented them

King: no no I've heard of them
King: it's a well-known legend
Machen: it's not a legend!
Lovecraft: That's right! It really happened
Machen: no i mean
Machen: i mean i just made it up
Machen: just now

Lovecraft: excuse me that sounds factually incorrect to me
Lovecraft: I'm pretty sure it actually happened
Machen: it didn't actually happen!
King: that's right! it's a legend
Machen: NO!! I JUST MADE IT UP!
Machen: JUST NOW!

Machen: don't you understand?! i made it up!
Dean Koontz: wow! is it true that the angels of mons were real?!
King: no dean it's just a legend
Lovecraft: don't tell dean that, steve! of course they're real!
Machen: ARGH

Machen: why can't I get through to any of you?!
Machen: it's not real!

Barker: hey Arthur was this whole bowman incident kind of queer

Machen: if fact you might say that the sudden appearance of ghostly archers was quite queer

Barker: was it queer because a bunch of men fired long hard pointy phallic arrows into another bunch of men
Machen: yeah that was a pretty queer thing about it
