Added 2025-03-24 16:18:38 +0000 UTCSilvia Moreno-Garcia: Submitted for the approval of the midnight society, i call this the tale of the velvet night
Moreno-Garcia: i mean the night that is velvet
Moreno-Garcia: the night that was velvet
Moreno-Garcia: i mean velvet was the night
Moreno-Garcia: yeah that sounds good
Moreno-Garcia: let's go with that
Moreno-Garcia: this story takes place in the 1970s
Moreno-Garcia: in america, a time of disco and bellbottom pants
Moreno-Garcia: but in Mexico
Moreno-Garcia: a time of turmoil
Moreno-Garcia: this was during the time of the dirty war
Moreno-Garcia: a time of government repression
Moreno-Garcia: when they banned rock music for being too subversive
Koontz: OMG! like in footloose?!
Moreno-Garcia: exactly like in footloose
Moreno-Garcia: except that they were also killing people
King: you know, i know a little about this myself
King: being a musician and all
King: i know what it's like to tweak the noses of the establishment
King: and run afoul of the town fathers
Moreno-Garcia:
King: yep yep seems The Man didn't appreciate our rebellious, antiauthoritarian attitude
Barker: to be clear
Barker: you're talking about your time with the rockbottom remainders
King: oh yeah we were quite the fearless truth tellers
Moreno-Garcia: that is not the same thing at all
Moreno-Garcia: in the midst of all this, there's this incredibly basic secretary
Moreno-Garcia: she spends all her time reading adventure thriller comics
Moreno-Garcia: but when she gets involved in a real life adventure thriller
Moreno-Garcia: she's about to find out that being in an adventure thriller isn't everything it's cracked up to be
Moreno-Garcia: this secretary is always reading pulp romance comics
Mary Shelley: comics?
Shelley: sounds like a nerd
Moreno-Garcia: you don't like nerds?
Shelley: no
Shelley: no i don't
Shelley: kinda my thing, really
Shelley: not liking nerds
Barker: mary isn't percy a nerd?
Shelley: you take that back or i'll fuckin end you barker
Shelley: don't think i won't
Barker: [sweats] i
Barker: [sweating intensifies] i would never think that, mary
Moreno-Garcia: this secretary suddenly finds herself caught up in government intrigue
Moreno-Garcia: with sexy results
Moreno-Garcia: when she's asked to pet sit the cat of a student revolutionary
Junji Ito: oh no i hope the cat is ok
Poe: yeah the cat better be ok
Lovecraft: i too am concerned about this cat
Moreno-Garcia: the cat's not really the important part
Junji Ito: b-but the cat
Ito: cats are god's perfect little gentlemen
Ito: [crying] i would die for my cat
Moreno-Garcia:
Moreno-Garcia: stop fixating on the cat!
Moreno-Garcia: the cat is not the issue!
Moreno-Garcia: the issue is the government violence
Ito: i'd feel better if i knew the cat was going to be ok
Ursula Vernon: see, there's an easy way to avoid all this
