(Btw, not that it really matters, but you may have missed that the players fighting MF had been hired by YX, all an act to help MF understand his problem -- you can hear those players thanking him after the fight, over chat. Also, the gamepad used by YX's grandpa wasn't actually plugged into the PC -- the person playing was YX, his hands under table.)

2023-04-29 15:49:10 +0000 UTCI forgot to explain this last episode -- it's not that Mo Fan is lacking in strength or DPS. It's that he's a poor team player, according to the LN, which makes sense considering his lone-wolf history. In 1-1 fights, of course, he can do much better than most of the other rookies, Luo Ji or even Yifan. But in team contests, where they must work cohesively, especially to amplify damage, he's not very good at following team pacing or seizing opportunities created for him. For instance, Steamed Bun may use Inject Poison to reduce an opponent's defences. Tang Rou would immediately realize this and take the opportunity to deal dreadful damage, way more than she'd normally be able to, by herself. This sort of tacit teamwork can boost the DPS of even weaker players like Luo Ji. In the LN, Ye Xiu used PvE, some 50-player dungeons, to expose this weakness to Mo Fan and get him to overcome it, mostly with a lot of sub taunting. (Say, "Someone here is not putting in enough work, they're always at the bottom of the charts. Leechers keep leeching." that sort of thing got MF to watch how the others cooperate and try to emulate them.) (The antagonism MF had for YX in the novel was quite significant, which is very understandable considering how he got recruited. I never really liked how it was handled.) Here, the LA used some random PvP, which didn't quite relay the problem.
