The flashback in this episode is a bit weird to me because Hiruzen looks quite a bit younger, but it's only supposed to be 10 years ago. The Nine-Tailed Fox attacked the village about 12-13 years ago, which was when we're told the 4th Hokage gave his life to stop it, so that means that this flashback takes place AFTER the 4th Hokage died and Hiruzen resumed his position as the Hokage again, which means Orochimaru was still a part of the village during the Nine-Tailed Fox attack. I mean, not impossible, but that's the time frame it would have to be. Also that speech from Hiruzen was really touching. And it showed all the generations too. You can see them all. First we have the 1st and 2nd Hokage standing there with (I think) the 2nd Hokage's students - Hiruzen and his teammates who I believe are those two advisors of his we saw. Then we see Hiruzen with his 3 students - Jiraiya, Orochimaru, and Tsunade. Then we see Jiraiya with his 3 students, one of which became the 4th Hokage. Then we see the 4th Hokage (before he became Hokage) with his 3 students, one of them being Kakashi. And then we see Kakashi and his 3 students - Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura. You kinda see a theme going here. This line of teachers and students all contained Hokage in them. You have the 2nd Hokage teaching the future 3rd Hokage, and the 3rd Hokage teaching his 3 students (Orochimaru who was considered for being the 4th Hokage, Jiraiya who Hiruzen had been trying to get a hold of to take his place as the 5th Hokage after the 4th died, and Tsunade who BECAME the 5th Hokage), and then you have Jiraiya being teacher to the future 4th Hokage, and then the future 4th Hokage being teacher of Kakashi (who is teacher to Naruto, who is the main character who wants to be Hokage). Quite a powerful line of teachers and students yo lol.
