You were probably told this already, but yeah only a select few know/knew about the Nine-Tailed Fox inside of Naruto. And there's a bit of a dubbing mistake here. The technique that Naruto kept failing at the academy was the basic Clone Jutsu. Shadow Clones are even more advanced, so it's even more impressive, though I know why it comes so easy for him... As for the fight and Neji's viewpoint, well while I'm a Neji fan, this is definitely Naruto's win that I'd never take away from him, because the Kyuubi's chakra is still a part of Naruto's power. However, I definitely 100% agree with the heart of everything that Neji said. While I still can't fully elaborate on why (and you can form your own opinion about it in time), this fight here is a good example of what Neji said. The moment that Neji closed Naruto's chakra points and made Naruto have to resort to using the Kyuubi's chakra, Neji had won the battle of skill and hard work. Even though Neji is talented, he still had to work hard to attain the skill he had. As a member of the Branch House, Neji was forbidden from being taught any of the Hyuuga's techniques. The reason he was able to use them on Naruto was because he worked hard to teach HIMSELF those techniques, discovering them on his own, and drilling himself on mastering them to the point where he would collapse during training. Meanwhile, Naruto won because of the Kyuubi's chakra. While he had to be pushed to be able to tap into it, the power itself was one that was given to him without any work or effort on his part. That power is a special gift that no one else can obtain no matter how hard they try. Naruto is also gifted with incredble stamina, which I can't elaborate on right now. But when Naruto resorted to the Kyuubi's chakra to beat Neji, it then became a battle of gifts vs talent, or you could say Naruto's gift vs Neji's hard work, and the gift won. And even THEN, Neji STILL almost won! Again, the Nine-Tails is still every bit a part of Naruto's power, but even when I was younger and saw the fight, I realized that Naruto hadn't actually proven his point with his victory. If anything, it just strengthened Neji's point. Of course, there were some elements of what Neji said that were wrong, but I can't disagree with the overall message. Especially when you look at it from different perspectives. In a real life perspective, Naruto is the one who's largely right. However, this series is a story written by one person who has everything planned out already. Every character's future in this story is 100% defined by destiny. They're all destined for what happens with them. So in reality, I agree more with Naruto, but in this story (especially since it's a story), I agree mostly with Neji. But at least Neji had his attitude corrected, and had crucial details about his past cleared up for him.
