Procedural Neon A (VIDEO TUTORIAL)

Happy new year!
I hope you had few days off to recharge and gather your thoughts together.
I will get back to Mograph Camp after this mini series, as I wanted to showcase my approach when it comes to procedural neon setups in Cinema4D.
Funny thing is, in Houdini is way easier to keep track of what you are doing and with much more control, but hey, I gave it a shot in our "favorite" piece of software :)

Thanks! Cant really say but you need to check with the visualisation tools what is going on when you weld. And super important: from c4d to c4d version this behavior changes. For many versions connect was not welding splines to single objects properly. Check project files for comparison!

This is an awesome tutorial! I have one question. For some reason when I create the "Unified Spline" connect object, if Weld is checked, I lose my segment splines. I can go back into the Geometry Axis and move it a little on Z, but then it sticks out at the front. I don't have the Rocket Laso tools, but I have Legacy Bundle, which also has tools for re-sampling and rounding splines. However when I apply it, the text gets affected, but not the segments. I suspect it's something to do with this weld behaviour. Any ideas why would the welding not work if my axis is set to -100? I have played with the Tolerance, but it doesn't seem it's the reason.

Thanks! Well that is on my to-do list to start recreating a lot of my xp to native c4d particles. If we can achieve similar results? not on everything but overall i would say yes

Hey, thank you for amazing tutorial! i have a question, i never use XP before, but i am using c4d particle system, and i was going to recreate your "Mamba out" with native particle system. Can i achieve similar result with c4d 2025 particles? It would be great if you recreate xparticle tutorials with only c4d with some quick tips

I have also a setup for this for Houdini, but didnt try to bring AI files and maintain layers. Need to look into that!

I just built my first Houdini rig and it was a neon sign for a project last month, ha. Im curious how you brought splines in from illustrator and maintaining their layers in Houdini. I had to do a c4d fbx work around. Also it had to go back to cinema. Thanks in advance for any tips.
