Camp Mograph part B (VIDEO TUTORIAL)

In this 2nd part I am gonna rumble a lot about various ways of controlling waves with c4d fields.

It might be a little tedious and difficult for some to follow along but I hope it will give you a nice overview of multiple ways of creating this effect + it will be the base of moving forward in more spicy examples!

More stuff coming soon!

ha yeah was only 3 shots though and 2 of them were part of the same exploration

Thanos Kagkalos

I can't believe you've wrapped up all this project in 3 days, this is insane!

Cosma

Really appreciate the kind words my friend!!

Thanos Kagkalos

I just wanted to say thank you for such nice content you do for us! <3 So much value in your videos.

Kirill Khomenko

I usually have a sneak peak of a series with all the links. Like this: https://www.patreon.com/posts/111197745 Also you can try to use tags while searching, or names etc its on patreon's main page has a search bar on top etc. Lastly - and while it needs some updating- here is an index of the overall content: https://motion-punk.com/patreon

Thanos Kagkalos

Awesome. Forgive me, but where would i find those?

Michael Guido

yes all of these field/grow stuff are available

Thanos Kagkalos

Are the project files for these available? Im trying to stack the fields on the plane to get the ripple effect but its not working correctly for me for some reason.

Michael Guido

haha cheers!

Thanos Kagkalos

I never would have guessed that little icon up on the top left would unclamp things – GENIUS MODE engaged.

Ryan Summers

not many things hehe I explain things about art direction and world creator as well + a little mograph but mostly related to octane. Should be good without it!

Thanos Kagkalos

It’s so true. There is often much more technique once you get in there and try to apply it to a project. Appreciate the in depth descriptions always. That level of detail is why I follow you and contribute :)

Andrew Hess

ah ok, I'm a redshift user. so its just octane stuff? I'm not missing anything else?

s_b

So happy to hear that! Many times i go into deep topics no reason. I am trying to restrict myself from nerding out but I get very excited haha. A lot of people naturally expect, 1-2 clicks and make things work amazingly well -its c4d we talking about after all-. But sometimes I have to explain a lot behind things, in order for setups to be scalable. Glad to hear that at least 1 person found it useful :) next one will be more fun lol

Thanos Kagkalos

Ah yes, to be clear - THIS tutorial, Part B about the formula field, was equally something I always sort of got but didn't fully get until you posted this one. So thank you for Part B here. Huge to understand the not super intuitive formula field. I often attempt to use it for similar ripple effects and usually just fake it with curve and manual beziers. So really, thanks for taking time to break this down. And then because of the depth you went into this one, I was like oh damn, Thanos is definitely the guy to finally crack the Range Mapper technique for me. haha. I have tried and failed many times trying to recreate the effect I saw from Aix Sponza a while back and in your break down I was like oh damn that's it! So appreciate you tackling that next or whenever you get to it. I'm sure I just always have a blend mode wrong or something out of order.

Andrew Hess

thats the whole reason i took 30 minutes to showcase the formula alternatives here haha. I many times spam blending modes in fields till something works but doing it on purpose and understanding it can lead you to solve many design problems :)

Thanos Kagkalos

You rock dude!

Andrew Hess

ofc thats the next tut coming up!

Thanos Kagkalos

yes all octane breakdowns are in higher tier as always

Thanos Kagkalos

Hey! Loving this breakdown. Thanks so much for going through it all. And the final piece came out beautifully. Curious if you'll be further breaking down the part at 19:30 in this video where you reveal the sphere. It looks similar to where you used the reveal technique on the landmass in the teaser - project file was called "uluru growth.c4d"? The setup uses a filed group folder called "final group" and then a Curve set to "Clip" over a Range Map. I saw this technique in a breakdown by Aix Sponza years ago when fields 1st came out they used for some techniques from this spot https://aixsponza.com/en/work/chroma/. But his screenshots didn't do a great job of explaining the technique. Looks like your reveal of the sphere and the way you used it on revealing the landmass in the breakdown are exactly the technique. Would love more in depth description about that bit specifically. Calling it out and hoping you plan to get deep into that bit in a future part of this breakdown series. No worries if not.

Andrew Hess

so part A is a different membership tier? thats a shame.

s_b

It looks like a bug.

Mikhail

oh wow this is so weird, thanks for reporting i need to ask patreon

Thanos Kagkalos

I got it but I haven’t see post itself without your direct link. Even locked post

Mikhail

https://www.patreon.com/posts/camp-mograph-111197150 you can see but cause of tier no access?

Thanos Kagkalos

https://www.patreon.com/posts/camp-mograph-111197150 you mean you cant access it i guess?

Thanos Kagkalos

yeah I can't see it either...

s_b

No. I don’t see. Previous post it’s sneak peak

Mikhail

one post below? haha cant u see it?

Thanos Kagkalos

Hey buddy! Where is first part?

Mikhail
