TFD&Explosia logo fire (VIDEO TUTORIAL)
Added 2019-11-25 23:08:06 +0000 UTCSo just before jumping into plane for Tokyo, i managed to find a little time to do this quick and dirty one :) I did explosia as well here, but its pretty basic, i definitely dont know explosia well to control it as I want to. But since a lot of u were asking this, i gave it a shot on the fly.
Also wasnt octane's issue here, im just burned out and overworked, all i needed to do is lower my voxel size and get some sleep!

I havent tried Fumefx since 3dsmax era. But its cpu. It has a gpu mode but not for final export to what i know. And even with a beast cpu, the only advantage is higher voxel count but not speed. So tfd will still be many times faster for small/med scale simulations. I think TFD>all when it comes to smoke sims in c4d. Their reply btw when i asked last year: "FumeFX is CPU only for simulation, but uses GPU for viewport display. When you export to VDB, almost any renderer can be used. " This tells me a)is slow and b) cant see the volume in render engines, unless exported first as vdb (tfd u cache and see realtime in viewport no exports needed). Fyi, this new realtime software that will come for octane is something we need to keep an eye for. So... yea i doubt fume will be a competitor here.

2020-04-12 14:17:33 +0000 UTCYes by a lot. See tutorial and u ll see a very basic sim taking 8-9 minutes while same in TFD takes 20-30 sec

And i wanna use the best tools possible for my pipeline, or at least the one that fits my experimental style more. This is also the reason why I do nice stuff, besides the thinking, is also the tools in this case. If u can work fast, u do more things. I understand that a lot of people dont own all the plugins and its a shame that they cant tag along with the content i sometimes create. But again, yea, i will showcase explosia in other context as im learning it myself now just to help u guys out :)
