Im currently omw home from epic karaoke but i was also part of that discussion about damen and whether his submission is due to training from book one or bc of his feelings and respect for laurent (im skewing towards the latter) (also liv wrote an excellent bottomianos fic i screamed about last night and she deserves praise. If i miss stream please praise her for me!!)

When Damen stood up immediately at Laurents command last stream and with his whole wearing of the cuff and “Im your slave”. Do you think a part of Damen likes submitting to Laurent? Personally I think part of the reason he wouldn’t kneel at his command after the secret of his identity was in the open was because he felt backed into a corner by Laurent too, but in an intimate and equal playing field he genuinely likes submitting to him. Which explains why he wouldn’t do so in an argument but he would tend to him like he has in private because he can choose to when comfortable. In my opinion as long as there is equality in everything else submitting to Laurent is something Damen actually enjoys especially in an intimate setting. And I think the reason he was embarrassed by doing so in public is because his people are so disgusted by the notion. Because to be fair they see their King submitting to the Prince of Vere not a lover submitting willingly to his lover. They haven’t ever seen Laurent vulnerable, clumsy and unsure the way Damen has. Laurent being vulnerable before him is probably the reason he might be so willing to submit to him now.
