This musical was a key part of Broadway's history and a major queer breakthrough when it originally debuted in 1996. There's so much to talk about in regards to the show, the movie adaptation, and the mythos surrounding both, but at the heart of it is also some of the best musical theater you can find.
As someone whose peak theater kid years were from 2003 to 2010, an intense Rent phase was mandatory. I haven't watched the movie in a looooong time, and Shey's request offered up the perfect opportunity to rediscover a formative part of my adolescence. Also, I met Anthony Rapp.
Terribly, terribly excited to fill this commission for March. <3
