Gaywatch Improvement Poll
Added 2024-09-05 14:00:05 +0000 UTCOne of the drawbacks of being a small creator is that you don't have a team to ask for feedback when you want to improve the the quality of your creations. One of the perks, though, is that you can ask your supporters directly without it seeming weird or out of place. This is an us thing, after all. If I wanna make things, I want you to enjoy them. And if there's a weak spot in what I'm doing, it benefits everyone if I know about it.
Feel free to leave specifics in a comment below. I'm totally comfortable with constructive criticism from people I trust, I promise you won't hurt my feelings. <3

I'm late to the party larry apparently, but I chose content variety because I think it would be fun of you to review other types of media like video games, like omg I'd love for you to play Dream Daddy on the show or maybe music video reactions, maybe like your top ten list of bisexual songs or top 10 lists in general I eat those up and it could be like 'top 10 gayest classic tv moments' or 'top 10 biggest queer baits/letdowns'

But that’s a very minor thing, and I wouldn’t have complained about it but since you’re asking for feedback that’s the only thing I have.

If I actually want to hear the show (which is nice when I'm watching along with you for the first time), I have to put the volume up so high that every time you speak it's a jumpscare. :D Thanks for the content and community. <3

2024-09-08 06:18:41 +0000 UTCI love watching your reactions and hearing your comments about the lighting & framing of shots. Those are not things I notice on my own. Like some other people have said, sometimes the difference in volume between you speaking and the video playing is noticable. I'm not sure if there's a way to correct that or not. It seems like one of those extra tricky editing things to me, but my experience editing videos is limited. If it's possible to balance the sound better, that would be great. If not, you will remain the only reactor I've bothered to get access to full length videos for. Keep up the great work!

Sometimes the sound is low, I’ll turn the volume all the way up, I hear you good, but what the video is saying, I can hear it but it’s low, this is just picky tech stuff, the content, the series you pick, your reactions, all wonderful 10/10 no notes

Sometimes though, the difference between the volume of your voice and the volume of the video you're reacting to is quite different, and I can either barely hear the dialogue or get my ears blown off a bit at unexpected times xD It is worth it though! ;)

2024-09-07 14:10:37 +0000 UTCI love your reading streams (I can't make them live but I can watch them afterwards), but they have been very heavily fantasy c-novel series focused, which can be hard for newer viewers to jump in on to see whether they like the read-alongs since they're so long. And then the selection is self-reinforcing because the same audience will keep voting for more c-novels if newbies aren't really joining those. I love the books you've read, and I don't want you to stop doing those because they're great and they DO have a strong returning audience. But you might consider doing a shorter standalone novel between each 4 to 8 book series to let newer viewers try the format and see if they want to keep coming back without the same intense commitment as jumping in on book 4 of erha or something similar.

You're pretty open to watching things and your only real restriction is not reacting to things you don't like, which is reasonable. My only problem is the sound difference between your voice and the video playing. The show is so quiet I have to either play the original over it and try to keep it to the same timing or raise the volume up high, which also increases the volume of your voice. A little more volume balance would be nice. But it is not a dealbreaker. I've managed so far.

2024-09-06 11:39:03 +0000 UTCI'm new and I didn't have time yet to explore your channel much, and I'm not familiar with many of the things you react to which is normal because I hardly watch anything that's not a Thai drama. As I commented in the newbies section, I think you haven't reacted to GL (again, correct me if I'm wrong), so it'd be nice if some of the most popular ones could be included. In movie reactions, some of the Thai movies that have been selected for international film festivals like Cannes and Toronto, it could be great to see a reaction when they are available. I can tell you the 3 I know of if you're interested. I think you mentioned this is a shipper channel, right? I'm a shipper, the romance side of any story (as long as the story is good, of course) is what I'm invested in the most. Again, I'm not sure yet what type of content you have. Discussions and analisys of specific couples would be nice! Thank you so much! ^^

I personally found you from your Word of Honor reactions and you were so fun to watch. Also I would love it if you could react to The Spirealm it literally got taken down 2 hours after it was released in China. The fanbase downloaded all the episodes and they are all on Viki.

I even prefer some of it, because the series screen is bigger. Just in asian shows the smaller series screen is a problem because I can barely read the subtitles.......although I have a bigger TV now, so maybe not a big problem anymore. Just more queer stuff....I am working through your library. And I kept Beyond Evil because no matter how much space it takes up....I will never let that series go. I am asexual but damn.......the acting, the voice....the slouch.....I love everything about Dongsik......just wish the world would have been nicer to him but then we wouldnt have the series.......we have AO3 for that.

2024-09-05 21:52:46 +0000 UTCI am happy, just keep the gay or gay subtext stuff coming, asian stuff is so interesting and gives room for so much heacanon but i love Good Omens and Our Flag Mean Death and Dead Boy Detectives, Hannibal, and Interview with the Vampire, where they dont hide it....and I love Umbrella Academy until a few things that pissed me off in much later seasons. But in general, I am a great fan of Five.....he is such a little shit but he shoulders so much and he isnt used to working together with people anymore. Thanks for changing times, concerning open queer content....... but I absolutely loved Beyond Evil. Dunno if I have seen a better show or a better actor. The Suspense, the mystery, the red herrings, the cat and mouse game.....the satisfaction that none of the herrings when found out feel cheap or out of character. Our Main Suspect Dongsik was phenomenal. And I rewatched, thinking about a second rewatch. It is so fullfilling to watch all the details and now knowing why they look how they look or why Dongsik reacts in certain ways. But I loved our little Ice Prince as well. I looked over the main characters, well, Dongsik....and tried watching more stuff from him. Wish there was more gay coded stuff but the moment I watch him in something resembling Beyond Evil I holler. Lesser Evil looks promising.....Cop who goes to extreme lenght, even working with a psychopath (sadly a woman, nothing against the straights but I just root more for queer pairings.) to catch a serial killer......good acting again.....some strange scenes because him trying to patch up his marriage that has suffered seems so unreal and fake......not because its straight, I just dont buy it. But I only watched 4 eps.

Lots of reactors spend too long after the show talking through what we just watched, but your comments during the show are always so on point and I nearly always come away wishing I’d got a bit more of that. I feel like five minutes of your thoughts/takeaways on the show/movie as a whole in addition to your immediate reactions to things that are happening in the moment would improve on what is already honestly perfectly done reactions.

I absolutely love when you give your opinions and talk more about what you have learned about the art of film and tv. I'm always super excited when I see that there is more video left after the movie/episode has ended. I would also love if you could include more of the discussions you have on after dark etc, in the videos that you put on patreon, as I live on a completely different time zone to you, so it's often impossible for me to catch your discord streams. So that's what I would like to more. More of your speaking and I think we all love it when you pause and talk during the reactions! <3

I would love to see more anime on the channel! Most anime are pretty short, so they wouldn’t take up as much time as the live action shows.

2024-09-05 18:15:10 +0000 UTCI'm with the other people on the sound - it's not bad quality, it's just very low compared to most, so I have to max the volume, but then sometimes the insert video is even quieter and the difference between your voice and the video's volume takes some navigation. It's not a huge issue, just something to mention.

The volume of the show is so much lower than the volume of your commentary. I have to turn my volume to max to hear the show adequately, and then your speaking voice is at a level that feels damaging to my ears. If there's any way to balance the two inputs, I would be eternally grateful for any adjustment.

It doesn't really bother me because I use headphones and I tend to put up whatever you're reacting to on my second monitor whenever I can, so I just turn on the volume of the show if I notice that yours is hard to hear, but I can see how it could be an issue for people who don't have that option or who don't use headphones. Maybe try to test your settings by recording something short and listen to it on speakers afterwards so you can see what you're working with?

So if it’s not feasible for you that is completely okay with me. Quality over quantity. However; if you’ll allow me to be greedy for a second. As a long time patron of you my only “disappointment” so far has been that there are too many awesome things for you to react to. So some things inevitably get left out because they didn’t win a poll or there are newer shows releasing. So I would propose something like an “I’ve always wanted to watch this” list. Somewhere to put all the things that particularly stick out and you can choose one from that list every so often. Frankly this is just a convoluted way for me to beg for Black Sails reactions lmao 💚. But I think it could be something useful to consider.

To be fair, we could just be hard of hearing so maybe it’s us lol. Regardless, we love your reactions and get so excited when new ones drop! I have to turn my volume all the way up, and sometimes I just listen to the readalongs in the car and the ads come on so loud it's scary haha. But trust me you're not the only creator with quiet audio. Everyone's device they watch on is different, so you might not realize it when editing. I also think Youtube could throw in some programming to modulate ad volume to match the video volume better. Also I absolutely LOVE your content, and your mic audio QUALITY is excellent btw. It's just the volume. You're doing literally everything else perfect IMO <3

2024-09-05 14:16:23 +0000 UTCI´m not particularly hard to please. So I don´t really have any notes on the technical quality. Sound/visuals/editing all seems fine to me. My biggest suggestion would be content variety. I would definitely watch you tackle/discuss basically anything, not just movies and tv shows. You mentioned potentially doing a Baldur´s Gate 3 playthrough if people are interested, that for example could be very fun. One thing I´m kinda missing are the watchalong streams for After Dark etc. Not sure if those are just paused for the moment because it´s easier for your schedule to do them on your own or if you generally want to move away from that? Oh and I just want to say, definitely don´t stress about output consistency, for one I think you have been pretty consistent lately, and secondly, life takes priority, if something happens that prevents you from being consistent then that´s just how it is and it is fine. Take care of yourself first and foremost

2024-09-05 14:15:23 +0000 UTCHi, I just watched the iwtv s2 and it kinda bothered me how big the discrepancy was between your mic sound and the clip audio was. I noticed because I usually turn the volume up to hear the series clip (since i watch your videos while im doing something else so i cant read the subtitles all the time) then you speak and the volume is extra loud in comparison (im very sensitive to sudden volume changes) so it startles me and i have to quickly adjust the volume to protect my ears (i use earphones). My suggestion is perhaps you can balance or level out the mic and the audio volume in your videos (also the intro and outro music gets loud in comparison to the content of the video), that’s all! Thank you for all your reactions so far! (Sorry for the weird grammar and run-on sentences, English isn’t my first language, thank you!)
