2024-09-04 18:46:08 +0000 UTCAbout what you said in regards to Vanya's costuming: I remember reading an interview where Elliot was talking about how he used to be incredibly uncomfortable whenever he had to wear feminine clothing on shoots or award shows etc. and would often have panic attacks because of it. I also don't know if the TUA crew knew about him being trans at the time of filming season one, but either way it's amazing that they allowed him to wear what he was most comfortable in instead of forcing him to wear something he didn't want to. That and how they handled everything since his coming out has made me respect them immensely.

2024-09-04 10:20:55 +0000 UTCNow that we are at the end of season one I have a lot to say, obviously by the length of this post. Things we can infer changed from Apocalypse #1. Vanya, probably didn’t kill Leonard as early as this timeline. Luther had Leonard’s eye in his hand when he died, and Leonard had not yet gotten the eye in this world. Also, I can’t see Vanya carrying it around because she was in such an emotional state. Leonard may have been there egging her on, but I think he was there setting her off. Then there is the question of how Hargreeves knew the Apocalypse was coming and it’s pretty hard to not come to the conclusion that did in fact he start it. HE was the one to bring all the kids together with his suicide. That led to Klaus stealing and then throwing away the book, which let Leonard finding it and finding out about Vanya's powers. Was it on purpose? And accident? Was he a member of the Time Commission and did it to keep the timeline in order? Did he make a deal when he left his home planet? Right now we don’t know.. All we know is he set in motion the circumstances that led to Vanya discovering her powers. He also was responsible for damaging her so much that her inevitable break was SO destructive. Certainly you can argue that she needed to be contained, but he chose the most damaging way possible. Again, was this so things would come to a head and cause the Apocalypse or did he have some other plan in mind? At least we know why Hargreeves acted with so little humanity, it’s because he’s not human. He also had some attachments to Vanya because he gave her his wife’s violin. Was it to set her up to be the bringer of the Apocalypse by giving her a way to channel her power when the time came? I do want to give credit to the costuming department. This was shot and aired before Elliot Page revealed he is trans. I am impressed that Vanya’s costumes are all very non-feminine, actually a style that is often considered male or at least androgynous. In the graphic novel, Vanya’s White Violin form is Vanya practically turned into a violin and is unmistakably female, instead of Vanya in a Tux. I don’t know if insiders were aware of Elliot being trans, or if Elliot made the suggestions that came up with the design to fit his own comfort level. I haven’t read the graphic novels I have heard that they are ongoing so as of now there is no ending.

2024-08-25 19:51:04 +0000 UTCIf you really think about it, Allison's rumour "You think you're just ordinary" probably infected Vanya's life beyond just not having powers. She fundamentally believed she was ordinary in EVERY regard - with her violin talent, with her relationships, with her identity, with who she was as a person. Incredibly messed up, and you can see why Vanya let all the pent-up rage get the better of her, but it's not Allison's fault obviously. It's their father's.

I just rewatch that show through S4 and skip the last one, and it'll be the same here. Doesn't take away from how excellent it is up to that point! I do know people who liked the last season of TUA, so you never know.

Basically, this episode confirms that something is very, very off with Leonard. I love "The Day That Wasn't", especially the Allison/Luther scenes. The dance is so beautiful. It sure seems like the only things that really happened were the Five storyline. How it will play out next episode with Five there to move things around will be interesting.

The first episode we saw her seeing the news of her 'dad's' death on the tv in the streets it immediately began to rain and I was like: Oh? her emotions change the weather? She got weather powers, okay. Put that behind her character introduction scene. But then everybody said she didn't have a power, but I kept thinking: Well, that seems wrong somehow. She's on mood suppressors you say... what would happen if she stopped? And then we saw. It is very clever, every time she is really upset, it rains. So the meds couldn't suppress all of her powers, it was just subtle. What they are and the whole extent of them, we are going to find out. ;D The day that never was. I was so frustrated watching this the first time :D Love your reaction to Leonard. It's so similar to mine. Such a creep. Klaus ♥ T.T Our poor medium. Love the brotherhood of him and Diego. Diego always acts tough, but he always waits for him to get his things, or helps him out in his own way. And Klaus also never let's him do stupid shit on his own, when he's there to prevent it. Finally Luther and Allison figure out that thing between them! Klaus gets to see Dave again! And then the show is just... nope. It´s brilliant, but also hurts.

2024-08-17 07:34:42 +0000 UTCOn one hand the idea of Luther being unpopular is wild to me, but that's probably because the oldest sibling in my family also took the brunt of a dysfunctional/abusive dad's ideology so I've seen the (shockingly common) phenomenon first hand. I can see how he may not land well in fandom spaces, especially these days. What they're doing with Luther and Allison is pretty bold, ngl, but psychologically understandable given the context. It's a gray area not many stories are willing to wander into, let alone dive headfirst, and I'm curious to see where it goes. Obviously it'll make some people uncomfy, which is fair, but I'm sure purity culture people are in hysterics over it.

Diego was my least favourite to begin with so watching your flip-flopping was like deja vu lmao i definitely feel like he and Klaus are the same in that they're both very much taken at face value, and are kind of a foil to each other in a lot of ways, i can't wait to see how you end up feeling about all of the characters by the end of the season!

His reaction to child abuse just isn’t funny or sympathetic enough I guess ... I really like him and I also like him and Allison (which is also an unpopular opinion) so thank you for not screaming incest because a lot of people do. Not that I expected you to, honestly, because you tend to have a more nuanced takes than that and I love it!

I'm not saying your favorites will change, but you will know more about them. I'm pretty sure you can tell that Reginald's A Number 1 parenting /sarcasm didn't lead to a lot of good mental health. So far all of the seasons have been a crazy fun experience so I'm positive you'll have a great time...and also cry a lot, 'because yeah. XD Also YES That is Gerard Way from MCR! He even wrote a song for one of the trailers! (Hazy Shade of Winter) It's great! I even remember watching a Documentary about the band and he talked about the UA characters! He was writing the comic while still in the band! P.S. I would love it if you watched the Phantom of the Opera here! There is a 25th anniversary recording in Albert Hall which is like the best thing ever!
