I believe when he talked to the conversion therapy doctor he was asking for himself, he was almost hoping he would find a cure... my heart breaks for him. like it breaks when i see that even Marcus can't let go completely of his fears to participate to the gay rights walks... their time broke them beyond measure!

2023-11-29 04:40:38 +0000 UTCQueer as Folk was the first canon gay interest show I ever saw, and it almost single-handedly normalized queer sex, affection, and community for my early twenties raised-in-Texas sheltered little brain. We owe that series a LOT. Literally twenty years ahead of its time (and paved the way for The L Word to make its mark, of course).

2023-11-28 16:46:58 +0000 UTCOh, another thing. I really like how the series compares the relationship that Hawk has with his father, to Senator Smith. Smith is more a father to Hawk. It wasn't Hawk's actual father's vitriol that made him want to play straight; it was Smith's love. Hawk didn't want to disappoint or ruin Smith's career. It's both beautiful and tragic.

Because Cohn wasn't just surviving, he actively persecuted his own kind. I honestly am interested a lot in his mindset, tbh. All the hearing scenes are accurate, taken from the transcripts.
