For anyone who fell in love with Fu Xinbo from JITD, I wanna share my love for this 2024 music reality show he was part of. It’s “Call Me By Fire Season 4” (披荆斩棘的哥哥4). https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL24nhvGEHDf4QQE_p2tkfhkEyWZoPFp4m 34 male artists/singers/etc. were invited to create live performances and compete with each other. He is absolutely handsome, talented, and hilarious in this. Here are two of the most popular “stages” from the season and he’s in both: Bloody Love Story (血腥爱情故事) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KGK9pOrLaGY From Rubbles to Treasures (变废为宝) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OWIJJIEnyyA If you watch this and are like, “Is that supposed to be kinda gay?” Well, this season was a feast for such things both on and off-stage. An RPSer’s dream, with the approval of the participants. Not kidding! One of the final episodes had a game titled: “Here are the 8 popular ship names from our show. Can you guess which two people each name is referring to?” :D They spent a lot of time together during filming, and most became quite close. There were roommate shenanigans (dorms for the win!); meal sharing; countless hugs, hand-holding, and horseplay; copious amounts of “love you”; two kisses during a livestream; lots of terrible puns/dad jokes; and extreme Found Family vibes. I never knew I could love a group dynamic so much. Many participants stay in touch even a year later. They’ve been attending each other’s concerts, plays, other variety shows; collaborating on new songs and projects; getting together for holidays, etc. Truly gives me hope for humanity watching them love each other. (Caveat: you may have a harder time understanding things if you’re not familiar with Chinese language or culture. The auto-captions are not great on YouTube. But there are some amazing stages you can enjoy without knowing all the background/lyrics.) Watch it for Fu Xinbo (he was aptly named “The Perfect Human” by one of the other boys lol), and stay for the best Family you’ll witness!

I know! I read Little Mushroom a few months ago. It is such a tender and unique story and I love a good slow burn. The English translation is published by Peach Flower House. I read it along with/at the same time with the manhua. The manhua (English translation) is harder to find on line since it is not complete or officially published yet. I do also highly recommend it.

I just finished reading the Chinese danmei novel Little Mushroom (小蘑菇 Xiao Mo Gu) by 一十四洲 Yishisi Zhou. And I needed to scream at someone so here I am lol. Highly recommend! The original Chinese version is exquisitely simple yet devastating. I believe there are excellent English translations out there. And there’s a reportedly amazing Chinese audio drama (not my preferred medium so I have not listened). This story blew me away. So unexpected. So brutal (OMG the body count…). So tender. It is one of the best end-of-the-human-world dystopian settings I’ve ever encountered. I am reeling from the existential questions being explored from the POV of a sentient mushroom (!) searching for his spore (single-mother style) into a human stronghold. And the slowest slow burn of romance arg. Enjoy the amazing ride if you read it!

Would it be crazy for me to suggest you react to The Magnus Archives? It’s not a visual medium so I’m not sure what that would even look like. But I think it’s absolutely up your alley. Hey Brittney, just because I'm here I thought I'd drop the two series I'd love to see you react to, even though I know you're incredibly busy. First is The Spirealm, which is the cdrama adaptation of the danmei novel Kaleidoscope of Death. Censored obviously, and not officially released but sneak-released, but it's excellent and extremely gay. Very Guardian vibes. Second is one I mentioned to you briefly before: Severance. One of IMO the greatest TV shows of the past few years that I think you'd be really into and does involve a queer storyline. I think S2 is coming out 2025.

Hey, I would like to recommend the show 9-1-1 mostly the original but Lone Star isn't bad either. It has very good queer rep especially in the latest season as we got a bisexual main character. One of the leads is a lesbian couple. It's a genuinely good show. It's really funny, and so heartbreaking sometimes. It brings out all kinds of emotions. I'm really picky about shows because of the characters and how they are written but here I love everybody. It has flaws but it is really great television it is cheesy, funny, it brings up all kinds of topics. I also think you would love Buck and Karen.

I would like to recommend Julie and the Phantoms! It's a fun Netflix series about a girl who starts a band with three guys who died in the 90s but have returned as ghosts to complete their unfinished business. The show will make you laugh and cry, it has fantastic songs, and there is queer rep :)

I would like to recommend the Korean drama "Love in the Big City". It’s one of those shows that really pulls you in with its honest portrayal of love and friendship The characters feel real, and their stories are touching, dealing with the highs and lows of relationships, identity, and self-discovery. I think you would LOVE IT. Certain conservative groups in Korea tried to stop the show because of its depiction of LGBTQ+ relationships but they decided to ignore them and released all 8 episodes.

For a short 10 ep show suggestion, I highly suggest "eyewitness"(2016). Without spoiling, it is about 2 (gay) boys who witness a murder. It's super underrated, and I would love to see your analysis on it. (kinda like be gay solve crime?) also there's not enough reactions to it, and the way it's filmed/the cinematography is just a really cool style I think.

Your extended YT edition of ep. 10 isn't in the KinnPorsche playlist on YT either. Only the short little one. You have to do a search in your videos for the extended reaction, but many newcomers doesn't know that. I told a fellow KP just recently 😊

Hope it's okay to still drop recs here. I just recently watched Deadloch (eight episodes on Amazon Prime) and I immediately thought of this channel! It's a satirical murder-mystery with a lesbian lead and a lot of supporting queer characters, set in a small town in Tasmania that's become an artsy LGBTQ+ destination. While the deadpan/absurd humour worked for me, it also stands on its own without the Broadchurch/Nordic Noir parody angle as a great mystery and drama with a lot of interesting things to say about the intersections of queerness, gender, class and race. The leads include queer actors Kate Box (who some folks might know from women's prison series Wentworth) and Madeleine Sami (who Gaywatch viewers will know as Archie from Our Flag Means Death).

Do you mean the BTSs or Brittany reacting to the BTSs? There were a lot of BTSs and I don't think they were ever collected in one place - at least not in western sites. You have to google around. Try searching Reddit and Tumblr threads for links. I don't know if Brittany ever did reactions to them.

just dropping in with a rec! since you enjoyed sasaki and miyano so much, i thought i'd let you know about "cherry magic! thirty years of virginity can make you a wizard?!". it's a manga, which i adore, but i'm here to recommend the japanese live action for it! there is one season of the show (which includes a couple short, special eps that are adorable) and a full feature movie after that. and if you need help with the movie, i can offer my assistance. :x it's also being turned into an anime that is slated to come out in january of next year and being adapted into a thai television drama with two really popular (from what i've seen) thai actors in the lead roles! so really, we are being fed some serious cherry magic. xD

I wanted to give you this one series requestion for when you have the time to react to it, because I loved your reactions to KinnPorsche, and I bet you would love to react to this one miniseries of Jeff Satur, called Ingredients (2020, can be watched from YouTube). It's bl with 22 short episodes (the shortest being only 5.33min and the longest being 19.19min), and Jeff indeed plays one of the main charachters! It didn't get a huge budget and it shows at times, the story is quite simple, but it's really sweet and wholesome series and the actors did totally amazing job with their roles and they have such a good chemistry! And it includes a cat! I just wanted to pop in and leave this request here for when you do have time in your schedule, because I believe you would really like this miniseries <3

Hey! I don’t know if you’re currently taking requests for new tv shows, but if you are I’d love for you to watch Schitt’s Creek! It’s a little slow to start, but especially after season one it’s absolutely fantastic and so funny! It also has one of my all time favorite queer couples, although they don’t meet until a bit later during the show (still a ton of gayness throughout haha). It has 6 seasons but only about 13 episodes per season, each being about 20 minutes long. I don't normally watch reality dating shows, but for whatever reason checked out episode one, and proceeded to binge up until the latest ep in one night. The sun was coming up.
