Some tiers are changing! (A vital update)
Added 2022-03-29 19:00:04 +0000 UTCThis Patreon is long overdue for a tier overhaul--it's literally the same setup I started with almost two years ago when I was brand new to the platform. Now that I have more experience with it and the needs of this Patreon have shifted a little, I'm ready to whip the Tiers into more cohesive, purposeful, value-driven shape.
Here's the overhaul, ready for an April release!
Tier 1 will target two specific groups: casual supporters and low-income individuals. The price will stay the same at $1 per month.
Casual supporters like to stick around for the Early Access/Uncut version of the current reaction series, then move on. They don't need bells and whistles, they're probably not looking for a new community, and that's entirely valid. I appreciate those people while they're here and after they've gone. They deserve to be considered too.
Low-income individuals shouldn't be pay-walled out of the content and community they want. This Tier, at the lowest possible price, still lets them access all of the special content, unlocks nearly all of the Patreon posts for their lurking/commenting, and of course the ability to message me directly. A lot of Patreons follow the suggestion of pricing the lowest Tier at $3. I simply can't bring myself to do that. I don't even like having a pay wall between people and content period, which is why all of my content pay walls are "soft" and time based like Early Access. The only hard pay walls here involve bonus-y, community oriented things like voting, livestreams, and Discord (but even then Tier 1 will be able to drop likes on After Dark posts to help make sure the series is popular enough to finish on camera).
Tier 2 is brand new and fills the more "standard" subscription role, priced at $2.50 a month. Discord, Patron livestreams, and some voting rights are unlocked at this Tier in addition to the usual content access.
Tier 3 stays largely the same at $5 a month, with main series voting being the largest distinction from lower Tiers. After Dark voting will be added to their perks once I finish the next two-and-a-half series I already have planned. They will also be the first to have input on merch options later this year and get to be the first guinea pigs for that whole process.
Tier 4, aka the Charity Tier, also stays largely the same at $20, getting any particularly special value I can throw at them whenever the opportunity arises. Specific merch requests, for example. This remains the Tier for kind people who are in a position to give a little more each month towards mine and The Wife's financial situation.
It's impossible to re-arrange this kind of value setup without a group losing something, but I've done my best to keep the loss as minimal as possible. Tier 1 will lose voting rights, but still have After Dark popularity input. They also lose livestreams, but those always end up public on Youtube and any question they have during the stream can be asked in the comments. And because I've made Discord access available for life during the past two months, they don't even lose Discord unless they're not interested in it in the first place. In hindsight, I would have delineated the tiers this way to begin with so that nobody ever felt like they were "losing" something, but lesson learned. My core principle--soft pay walls for content--remains intact though, so I consider that a win.
If you have feedback, questions, or concerns, I encourage you to leave a comment below or message me personally and I will do my best to meet your individual needs.
Thank you, thank you, thank you so much. <3
