November Newsletter 2025 (How is it November?!?)
Added 2025-11-07 20:00:53 +0000 UTCHi, all!
Holy shit, I feel like I'm throwing a thousand-yard stare at the finish line of the year, and did not meet my own expectations. Maybe my New Year's resolution needs to be something more profound than "stop eating so much candy, fat-ass." (This wasn't my actual resolution, but I did make myself sick on candy with my offspring on Sunday night, it was tragic)
Let's start with the easy stuff first!
Rewards: I have sent out the official Patreon rewards. For those who are new, these are freebies you can get from me as you accumulate pledges over time. This process is not automated, so if you think I missed you, comment below. Messaging me triples the time it takes to figure out if I missed you and I might not see it for weeks.
Catching up on stuff: As we are all aware by now, I have been behind on everything since...I don't even know. Was just informed a few minutes ago that my publisher (who is definitely a human man and not a goblin in a trenchcoat) is hiring me an assistant to help out. On that note, if I still owe you artwork or an autographed copy of a book, feel free to check in with me so that my new assistant can prioritize it and get those things settled!
New Book Alert! I want to thank everybody who is taking a chance on King of the Fae Islands by myself and Adam Lance. We are actually getting some great reactions and movement on this book right now, but wanted to touch base regarding some general fuckery on Amazon.
In their infinite mom and pop store wisdom, Amazon has changed the algorithms yet again in the Amazon bookstore. They have decided to even further prioritize books that actually get reviews, whether it is just stars or comments. In doing this, they've created an odd black hole resulting in reviews (etc) simply never posting (as of today, this book only has 3 reviews and we know that more people have submitted them then this).
This recent change has actually caused a couple of authors who regularly release small hits to not even crack the top hundred. Amazon says "only ten percent of readers cared to review, so we won't recommend it." No joke, this is probably the biggest danger to writers like myself. Please, please, please, make sure you at least leave stars (especially 5, cause Amazon punishes for 4 and under) if you have any authors you wish to see succeed. Here is a fun graphic I have provided for those of you who like flowcharts:

The audiobook for KotFI will release in December (most likely). It's gonna be over 20 hours, so be prepared for a long car ride with Grandma if she wants to listen in. (IYKYK)
Extra Life: As we have the last few years, we are going to be goading on IronWatchdog to raise money for Children's Miracle Network as this poor bastard games for 24 hours straight and probably ruins his body for old age. If he meets his goal, I will be writing a short story to celebrate. It absolutely won't be devastating at all, I promise. (It's so hard to type with my fingers crossed like this)
Bonus Extra Life: I have been informed via rumor that some madlad has donated money to a super official DND podcast for Extra Life (I am actually not being facetious this time). Why do we care? Apparently, you could donate enough cold hard cash to name the characters, and Elias Hearthsong the Aritificer with a glorious mullet will have his official DND debut (no, they don't know, shhh). Premiering on Nov. 8th at 6:30 PM PST, DND employees will be doing a D&D one-shot called Love is Blight. You can watch it on the official Magic the Gathering Twitch channel (closest to the big time I'll ever get!).
Updates: Book 8 is with the editor and should be done by end of December. Cover art is already done. D&H 3 will wrap up this month, and then you will get the start of Book 9, loving titled "Book 9".
Halls of Magic 4 is being worked on, as well as a new collab with Virgil Knightley. I do have a couple other background projects that I have halted work on to catch up on other stuff.
Other stuff: I honestly don't know. There was something I was gonna tell you, but forgot by the time I got down here. I'm hungry and tired. There. That's the update.

Comments
Yeah, don't be so hard on yourself. You're still rocking it on Lit! LOL! And, you are a published author! That's amazing! Many people have at least one novel in them, but you are the real deal – a professional writer. Slainté
