In its first day of sales, FML sold 3.99 million copies, surpassing the previous record of 2.65 million held by BTS’s Map of The Soul: 7. It also beat Adele’s album, 25, as the fastest selling music album of this century, having passed her 3.4 million sales in a week with over 4.5 million of their own. It’s currently #2 on the Billboard 200 and #1 on the Top Album Sales and World Album charts.

Life In A Minute (teaser trailer)

F*ck My Life (mv)

Despite the title of the song, it is not about wallowing in self-pity or anger, but rather recognizing the challenges you face and mustering yourself to fight on. Member Hoshi described it by saying “we use cuss words when we are having really hard times, but we also use them when we have to go forward” so this song is both a comfort and a motivation.

Woozi said, “It’s a song that is easy to listen to so I recommend you to listen to the song when you want to forget about the present and daydream while looking up at the sky”. After watching the mv, check out this twitter thread that explains many references in the music video. https://twitter.com/hhuluv/status/1655255480179064834?s=20

Super (choreography video)

The Korean title for this track is “Sonogong,” which is a mythical character with super-powers. Some choreography that is tied to Sonogong’s powers are duplicating himself, riding on a cloud, the gesture for teleportation (fingers to their temple), and the iconic Goku “kamehameha”. Seventeen hopes to overcome failures and hardships to evolve just like Sonogong. “’Super’ is the track that makes you cheer up, and it’s a charming song with a grand sound,” said Seungkwan. The members are in the black clothes.

Fire (lyric video) - Hip-Hop Unit

Fire is by the Hip-hop team consisting of S.Coups, Wonwoo, Mingyu and Vernon. The song is also composed by Wonwoo & Vernon along with Bumzu. The track is a perfect hype song to tune into when working out or when trying to meet certain life goals, it’s about working passionately to accomplish a goal and aiming for something higher once that goal is accomplished. S.coups said this song was created for the day it gets performed live on a stage.

😀I Don’t Understand But I Luv U (lyric video) - Performance Unit

The R&B track by the performance unit, is a song for fans with lyrics that say that even though we speak different languages at different times, we understand each other and share a secret with a password that only we know. It was inspired by a comment read during the countdown livestream for their single “Darl+ing”. (Short clip of the fated moment) https://youtube.com/clip/UgkxesObzehcqIuswarzD1In7MqUx6Fc4P-A As soon as the stream was done, Hoshi insisted Woozi and Bumzu make a song with that quote as the title.

Dust (lyric video) - Vocal Unit

This song is by the vocal team and is a synth-pop song that compares love to dust while it reminisces about a past relationship. The vocals of the unit harmonize well with the track, which sounds like a song from an animated movie. This song is a great example of a happy melody with sad lyrics.

April shower (lyric video)

Sung by all the members of the group, an ode to how the efforts and struggles of today will pay off tomorrow in the same way that “May flowers” can only bloom after “April showers.” Bringing the album full circle, Genius Korea says, “just like the title of FML, adversity is a question of perspective, rain nourishes flowers to grow, just as hardships make one stronger if approached in a productive way.” A classic Seventeen ending track.

The long awaited conversation with these two.

Comments

i can´t help but think it´s a bit concerning how kpop fans buy so many albums when over half of the sales is mass buying. the amount of cd´s that will end up in the trash. only the photocards is important to the fans. that is seriously wrong. i know army does it too and it´s wrong too. I wish the digital version would sell more. i don´t collect photocards i only have one copy of BTs albums and solos. imagine the amount of time it took for the label to print the album for just let it be burned. also the impact it will have of the environment. p.s this is not a disrespect on seventeen or their fans.
