Reminders:

D-DAY IS OUT!!

The trilogy is finally complete but it's really just the beginning, with a tour and documentary and more content being released we know how hard yoongi worked to make this all possible, and his hard work is quickly being recognized.

The album just released less than three days ago but its already getting an impressive list of accomplishments. D-DAY has reached #1 on US iTunes, UK iTunes all kill topping #1 in top songs, top albums, and top MV.

Agust D becomes the FIRST RAPPER IN HISTORY to sell 1M copies of an Album in its first day.

On Melon the album received 2.7M streams in its first 24 hours of release.

Placed #2 on biggest album debuts for Korean soloist in Spotify history

#1 Indigo, #RM 21.6M

#2 D-DAY, #AgustD 21.4M

#3 Jack In the Box, #jhope 19.7M

#4 FACE, #Jimin 19.6M

In only 6 hours the album broke 2 Hanteo records, Fastest million seller album by a soloist AND highest 1st day sales for a soloist album!

The title track “Haegum” quickly reached #1 on US iTunes and debuts at #11 on the global Spotify chart with 3.9M streams.

This is a beautiful album that concludes the self-reflective trilogy with topics of liberations from societal pressures, past regrets, and future fears. Once again army is gifted with his beautiful, profound, and vulnerable lyrics and music, so excited to see how his work gets translated onto a stage.

D-Day

Yoongi immediately dives into the album with an aggressive critique of the world and self doubt. Talking about his path to D-Day and feeling lost but with a confident message that the flowers will bloom again, to be strong while wishing no scars to appear, and that it’ll all be ok in the future.

Haegeum

A Haegeum (two-stringed vertical fiddle) is a traditional Korean instrument and also means “abolish / lift the ban” so to be “ freed from the shackles” or “free from forbidden things”. A very powerful title track that once again critiques society, freedom, capitalism, and prejudice..

Yoongi wrote the storyboard for the music video himself so everything from the entire song to the MV was a product of his genius.

HUH?! (ft. J-Hope)

Another raw and honest cutting song calling people out in the industry and people on the internet who are fueled by desperate hate. J-hope was a perfect addition for this song!

AMYGDALA (uh-mig-duh-luh)

Amygdala is the part of our brains that allows us to encode memories, process emotions, and identify and defend ourselves from present and future frightening or threatening stimuli. It also helps us remember important things by linking feelings to moments and creates imprints that remain for long periods of time, from emotions to sounds, smells, and more.

The MV for this song is dropping in less than 24 hours (which he also created the storyboard for)! “I recommend that you watch all the music videos for “Daechwita”, “Haegeum” and “AMYGDALA” in one sitting” - yoongi (Yes Jim you are allowed to watch it when it drops)

SDL

Mentions the hardships of human relationships that he had told us on many occasions how difficult they are for him, what a poetic song about love and love yoongi’s voice in this song. Adora also participated in this song in the background vocals.

Polar Night

Referring to the nights that last more than 24 hours this track feels like an open letter to the media, who analyze, criticize and distort everything BTS do or say. You can truly feel his emotions through the musicality of this track.

Snooze(ft. Ryuichi Sakamoto,WOOSUNG of The Rose)

A beautiful and incredibly comforting yet desperate song for the idols in the industry.

The late Oscar-winning Japanese composer and producer Ryuichi Sakamoto is one of yoongi’s musical hero since he was a child, inspiring him to do music. Sakamoto passed due to his long battle with cancer  just a few weeks ago and yoongi had shared had shared the message in honor of his mentor and inspirations “Sir [teacher], I hope the faraway journey is peaceful.”

'Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence' is Yoongi’s all-time favorite piece and shared how listening to this piece when he was an elementary student made him dream of becoming a singer, so proud he was able to collaborate with his musical inspiration.

“Although he is a top idol, when we talked, I felt he was a humble and cool young man who was serious about his music. It was to the point that I wondered if he had any other hobbies other than thinking about music” - Ryuichi Sakamoto on Min Yoongi

WOOSUNG is the vocalist and electric guitar player of Korean indie-rock group The Rose, a four member band that debuted in 2017. He is the same age as yoongi and he also faced a thorny and unfair path to be able to make his dream come true with his team. His voice truly resonates with the song and the gentle desperate lullaby for people following their steps.

Life Goes On

His version of BTS’s song. Even though it speaks about falling apart, distancing and things becoming memories, you can feel in his voice that even in the moments that he knows are finite, life goes on and thats a good thing. A beautiful way to wrap up the album.

Comments

P.S. In around November I saw The Rose live at the House of Blues in Anaheim so when I saw that Snooze featured Woosung, it was one of those weird, full-circle moments for me! Would also recommend seeing them live, I feel they’re definitely your vibe!

Hi Jim, sorry I’m so late to this, life has been wild lately! This album is incredible and yes, I got tickets (cost me a whole paycheck but totally worth it!). It was one of the most unforgettable concerts I’ve ever been to (I was at PTD LA, so that was on par)! I ended up taking one of my coworkers with me, completely new to BTS, first time hearing anything from them. And she said she has never been to a concert like that before, she was amazed by the Bangtan Bombs synchronizing with the music, and she overall was impressed and had a great time. And has since asked me more about them! The concert was incredible and I even recruited a new baby ARMY! I know you don’t much like going to concerts anymore, but if you ever get a chance to do BTS or even a solo concert by one of the boys, I would highly recommend it! Thanks for your reaction💜

Congratulations! Have fun!

I just bought a ticket from the SWEETEST Army I met this weekend. I am so freaking excited to actually be going, and I have no idea how I'm going to avoid too many spoilers. Aargh!!!

Jim i also thought of wildflower when i heard snooze. Both of the lyrics are full of pain but are also very comforting at the same time. They have somewhat of the same messages to push forward and continue down your path of happiness. Even if you're lost in confusion and desperation, things will turn out in the end. Watching the live performance of snooze had me emotional and i was crying even after the song ended. It makes me think of the idols who have passed away in these recent years, hold tight, everything will be alright, rest in peace. Suga wants to send out a message of peace and hope for those who are working so hard to achieve their dreams, being a light in the darkness because he knows how mentally grueling it can be at times. The more i listen to the album, the more it touches my heart. I'm excited to see your reaction to the documentary.

Okay, I wasn't able to watch the stream yesterday so between work I have just finished it. Here are my thoughts on everything 💜 Yes, I have already recorded D-Day for you 😁 I wouldn't leave you hanging💜 As for the songs: Can't say I have a favorite, LOVE the whole album. #1 - Love this song, agree it is a very hype song and a great way to start this album. Loved it from the start. #2 - First watch, jaw-dropping shock. Yoongi needs the Oscar 🤣 **Kristin just sat there shocked when she watched it :face_with_hand_over_mouth: #3 - LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this song!! **Kristin loves it, but isn't happy with putting a song with both her bias (Hobi) and her bias wrecker (Suga) in one song 🤣 #4 - This song stays with me for a while every time I listen to it. The chorus (My AMYGDALA, My AMYGDALA) part reminds me of the late '90s or maybe early/late 2000s song. (Just can't think of what song, which is driving me crazy :face_with_spiral_eyes: ) #5 / #6 - great songs right where they needed to be #7 - Love the beat and flow of this song, I can just get lost listening to this song #8 - Always love his interludes, but for this one, I'm making a ringtone :purple_heart: #9 - Right away my first thoughts were "Dreaming" & "So Far Away", another song that will get me to stop and just listen to it #10 - Love both versions. The way Kristin and I talked about this song: LGO - BE Album - musically fits the whole BE album better LBO - D-Day Album - Perfect ending to this album. Lyrically kind of closes out the album by saying "Life goes on". Loved hearing his vocals like that as well.

Hi, just my interpretation of Haegeum: The cop is the usurper from Daechwita. Yoongi said in 2020 live stream that the king was called ANGER and that the usurper had a name too. Now, if we look at the MV, first of all ... its a drug lab. So the Cop is corrupt and deals in drugs. something in which he can desperate customers do things in hopes for a shot. Also drug business brings in a lot of money. When the Kitty Gang Boss walks in, he knows where he has to go, so someone told him. The guy on the phone, who is calling the cop, is in cahoots with the Kitty Gang boss. Kitty Gang Boss even nods at the guy on his way out with all the money in the bag. He then basically waits for the cop to find him. It is all planned. He dosed the money in gasoline (bc otherwise it would not have burned so quick). Kitty gang boss isn't in for the money, its just a tool to get the cop. And notice how the cop snaps the moment the money is on fire? That kinda tells you the name of the usurper/cop: GREED. Greed killed Anger in Daechwita and Kitty gang Boss killed Greed in Haegeum. Also... Kitty Gnag Boss took Greeds jacket with him from the scene and when he's about to eat he stops and looks up as if someone started talking to him... Yoongi said that AMYGDALA is the next MV in the line and it ties to Daechwita and HAegeum.

Hello! I'd like to drop in and mention as a Korean speaker, that the most accurate lyric videos are done by a channel called 'Zaty Farhani'. Cabbage might have missed this person, but usually, its the safest to go to their channel for newer releases. Please do use this channel for future releases! The lyric video that you've reacted to this time was unfortunately quite inaccurate, around 30-50% of the lyrics were wrongly expressed. It still gets the core messages through, but its quite a pity. Please do check out Zaty Farhani's lyric videos for more accurate trans!
