TXT Thursdays Child Album Reaction + Bonuses

The album's name is taken from the “Monday’s Child” nursery rhyme:

Monday's child is fair of face,

Tuesday's child is full of grace.

Wednesday's child is full of woe,

Thursday's child has far to go.

Friday's child is loving and giving,

Saturday's child works hard for a living.

And the child born on the Sabbath day

Is bonny and blithe, good and gay.

TXT specifically chose Thursday’s Child from all the children listed in the rhyme as they believe (just like the child in the rhyme) that they still have far to go. They have more music to make and more music for fans to hear. This is their 6th consecutive album to chart on the Billboard 200 (peaked at #4). They have also announced their first world tour, and most of the members have writing credits on the album. It is also the first album with subunit songs.

The album is available in 3 versions that are a hint to the album’s theme: “End,” “Mess,” and “Hate”. Part of the pre-release promotions from Big Hit included trending the keywords “END TXT,” “TXT MESS,” and “HATE TXT” on Twitter. 🤯

The album tells the story of a boy’s first breakup and how he experiences the 5 stages of grief through the emotions of denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance. The boy fully feels and expresses each of these emotions as they come, until he is finally able to accept that his relationship has come to an end. Moving from adolescence to adulthood, the boy comes to a better understanding of both himself and the world around him. Then he wonders where he will go from here?

Opening Sequence - ends at 3:04

This intro to the album starts on a dark note with the boy pleading for his love to stay, but that love has already left. The boy knows but is in denial and experiencing flashbacks from the breakup that play over and over in his head again and again like a movie.

Good Boy Gone Bad - Official Choreography Version

Good Boy Gone Bad references an earlier track “Cat & Dog” by saying My tail wagged at you, that’s my past. That earlier playfulness in the relationship has now turned to anger, the boy is killing his innocence and learning from pain.

Trust Fund Baby - ends at 2:41

Trust Fund Baby directly connects to the song “LO$ER=LO♡ER” from their last album. The lyrics “lover with a dollar sign” from “LO$ER=LO♡ER” turn into “love with no dollar sign” in “Trust Fund Baby.” The boy in “LO$ER=LO♡ER” was a firm believer that money was all he would need to protect his love, but unfortunately, his love has failed. The boy is now a cynic and bargaining with melancholy.

Lonely Boy (The tattoo on my ring finger) - ends at 2:54

A subunit song with Kai and Yeonjun

The song title is a nod to TXT’s habit of long song titles from previous albums. The boy is now depressed and regretting everything after the breakup. He believes that his loss will cause him to remain forever alone. Matching couple tattoos become a metaphor for how happy memories can also become permanent mementos of failed relationships.

Thursday’s Child Has Far to Go - ends at 3:42

A subunit song with Taehyun, Beomgyu and Soobin

An ‘80s synth-pop that Beomgyu is credited with co-producing, it ends the album on a positive note, the boy is able to accept the heartbreak and move on while focusing on his own growth. As Thursday’s Child, the boy recognizes that he has far to go both in maturing and in potential.
