A celebration with the ARMY

The BTS LOVE YOURSELF series creates a narrative by linking the key songs in each album into a single theme, imparting the message that “loving yourself is true love”. Like a well-written novel having introduction, development, twists, and conclusion it shared a compelling story for two and a half years.

‘ANSWER’ is the final piece of the puzzle. Though it’s a repackaged album, LOVE YOURSELF 結 ‘ANSWER’ still includes seven brand-new tracks. CD A is a concept album, its sixteen tracks all connected lyrically to highlight BTS’ prowess as both artists and storytellers.

This is the new OST/Soundtrack which was released just today! It’s by BTS Jimin and Wanna One Ha Sungwoon for the new kdrama (available on Netflix) “Our Blues”. The song is just soo soothing and sweet and broke the record of 100 number ones in iTunes in less then 5 hrs. Enjoy! (Official MV with no subs is after this one just refresh the playlist)

Euphoria

This song which is JK’s solo was released on its own with a short film titled “Theme of LOVE YOURSELF 起 Wonder”. The film is related to the BU. As for the track, the full version is next in the playlist and it's about the general feeling of being in “Euphoria” because of a new fresh love and the excitement of falling in love.

Trivia 起 : Just Dance

In this album, the rap line tells a story through their three individual “trivia” songs. To begin the story, Jhope’s solo track is about falling in love and comparing it with dancing. It pretty much talks about the excitement and happiness of being together with a loved one.

Trivia 承 : Love

Next in the story, in RM’s solo track he is describing the work and meaning of “Love”, and while he is wondering if what he feels is really love, he still can't deny how precious love is. He uses a lot of wordplay, this is what he said in an interview “For me, there is a really interesting thing between Korean and English language. You know “love” and “live,” right? It sounds really similar. For Korean, in Korean, we call love in “사랑 [sarang]”, we call live- we call people in “사람 [saram]”, so it sounds really similar. So, I mean like, love, live– it’s the same word.” He also talked about 사람 [saram], 사랑 [sarang], and 살아 [sara; live] in his V Live. (Doolset is recommended due to the wordplay)

Trivia 轉 : Seesaw

To end the trivia story, Suga’s solo track is about the repetitive ups and downs of a relationship and he compared it to the children's game the “seesaw”. It shows the two sides of a failed relationship: the upsets and the relief of something ending. And finally comes to a realization that sometimes it's a must to set an end to something that is no longer worth it.

Epiphany

This is the moment all of the love yourself era lead up to. Jin’s solo track and is talking about the realization of loving one’s self and that the beginning of happiness and love starts with self-love. The MV is the short version, so the track after it is the full version.

I’m Fine:

This track is a parallel track and a response to their song “Save me” to the album “HYYH/The most beautiful moment in life - Young forever”. While in Save Me they were in darkness and looking for help, now they are telling us that they’re fine. Extra note: “I’m Fine” is a mirror image of “Save me” (see below) and the lyrics of “Save ME” and “I’m Fine” are connected to each other within a chiastic structure.

During this time BTS were becoming more stable in the western music world and were receiving a lot of criticism from the Korean music world for “becoming too westernized” as well as major push back from the western music world for “being too Korean”. What better way to wrap up their trilogy message and their backlash by having the title song of their album have Korean influence and a MV made to push back against people saying they were “too eccentric”, with the final message of “you cant stop my loving myself”.
