Thank you for your thoughts on Eddington! I went into the movie pretty blind, not knowing what it was really about. I came out a bit confused, mostly about the ending parts you addressed. So I'm glad I'm not the only one that had similar thoughts to you, and you as usual voiced it very well.

I would like to submit that dropping the Covid thread was intentional, especially if this author has disabled friends or moves in circles with disability activists. Because disabled people have been screaming ever since the pandemic started, trying to get people to realize that these eugenicist ideals that have come to the forefront are escalating as a direct result of the pandemic. It's simply history repeating itself. We understand very intimately that the pandemic is not over & people have just been in such a hurry to "move on" & get back to "normal" that they finally dropped any pretense of caring about disabled people or about the fact that more people are STILL being disabled by this mass disabling event. I know a couple of people personally who have gotten Covid this year & are now battling the constellation of long-haul symptoms. So dropping the Covid thread like it doesn't matter, like it wasn't important, like it isn't currently incredibly relevant is exactly what has happened in the real world. The only people I see still talking about Covid as an ongoing threat are disabled people (who were disabled before the pandemic), people who were disabled by Covid and are experiencing long Covid, & select healthcare workers or scientists. As Imani (crutches_and_spice) often says, disabled people are the canaries in the coal mine. Unfortunately for us, we're simultaneously cursed with Cassandra syndrome. Most pre-disabled people refuse to listen to us or care until issues affect them personally. I also think dropping the thread could be a nod to all the people who still think it was a hoax or "not that bad" & probably allows people who think that way to continue justifying their beliefs & actions both during the height of the pandemic & now.

It's just what you find in hyper conservative areas. And especially extremely religious ones. I generally feel very uncomfortable when people say things like that are unrealistic or something we shouldn't highlight. I need, desperately need, for people to understand that hard-core evangelical Christians LITERALLY want them dead. Not hate them. Not don't care if they live or die. Not just willing to sacrifice them. Want them DEAD. I have sat through more than one terrifying sermon where the pastor actively said that the world would only get better when everyone left of them was dead. I've heard many, MANY prayers for anyone pro choice to die. Even one of the kindest people I knew at the time would pray that anyone who got an abortion would die during the procedure. This whole thing is a LOT worse than most people are aware of. Too many people don't seem to know that there really are deep end, cartoonish fascists in America right now. They seem to think it's an exaggeration when it isn't. I very much believe that most people are or want to be good. But what some people think is good is TERRIFYING. Okay, had to get that thought out. Now I can say I loved this video. It gave me so many things to think about and look at. I'm so glad I decided to join the patron because I never get notifications for your videos from YouTube and Tiktok actively seems to be hiding them from me.

I shouldn't be watching it now anyway 😂 I've heard of this movie, but I have no clue what it's about... In fact, I didn't even know Quinton Tarantino was involved with it... Maybe after this I'll actually be interested enough to go see it... I don't see movies in the theater often, but mainly because at my age my bladder capacity has become halved at best... And I hate walking out in the middle of one in fear I'll miss something crucial... Okay back to this...
