Johnny Smith & Poker-Huntas Scan is back
Added 2021-09-03 15:16:58 +0000 UTCI've received 2 out of the 3 films I had scanned back (the other is Bosko, will post an update later). 
Compared to the laserdisc version on the right, the 16mm has the uncropped image. Most of the laserdisc releases were significantly cropped. You can see the "quotation marks " on the blue ribbon title card above compared to the cropped version.
Also, the 16mm has a less warm look compared to the laserdisc, which will allow me to better color grade it without having to correct for any shift in the color space.
Of course, now that there is a 16mm 4k scan, the image is far sharper than the last version of this film to be released, which as I've noted is the laserdisc version.
This film is the first in line to have work started on it. Overall it's pretty clean and the color just needs some more saturation and balancing. This should not take as long as my prior work, which usually takes 4-6 weeks.
