Muscle Tussle (1953) BW 16mm

This is a scan of a 16mm BW version of this cartoon. It has the original opening rings and title cards. The official WB restoration uses blue ribbon reissue rings with the original titles spliced in. 

Tale of the Vienna Woods (1934)

This is a 16mm print I acquired last year. Unfortunately it is missing the Titles and opening scene in which a book is opening. The rest of the cartoon is intact.

New 1949 16mm film Scan

Last year I posted a 16mm version of this (click here) film that myself and another acquired. It was a rather disappointing print, however (a dupe). The only bonus is that he had the original closing rings that is incorrect on current prints.

The same individual who help pay for the original print acquired this version. In addition to the more accurate colors, the image is vastly sharper as well. 

1948 Cat and Mouse Cartoon (8mm scan)

This is a scan from an 8mm of this cartoon. It a reissue print that lacks the original opening credits. But this is probably one of the best 8mm prints of a cartoon I've seen in terms of color and picture quality. It still lacks the sharpness of a 16/35mm, but is still good. I will adjust the colors on this (it's slightly green) and make it available for download soon.

Ray Harryhausen's The Story of Little Red Riding Hood (1949)

Ray Harryhausen got his start with stop-motion adaptations of popular fairy tales. The young Harryhausen had spent World War II working under Colonel Frank Capra in the U.S. Army's Special Services Division, making military films. By war's end, Ray had salvaged enough leftover 16 mm stock to make his first short, an anthology of classic fairy tales called The Mother Goose Stories (1946).

Redesign Debuting 2.1.23

I apologize for the lack of activity recently. I have to become very busy at my actual job, which has significantly cut into my ability to work on cartoons at the pace that I was previously.

Circus Daze 35mm Scan

Here is a 35mm scan of the MGM Bosko cartoon Circus Daze. This is only a partial print as the beginning of the film is missing. This Bosko film in particular has been rather hard to come by with a decent print.

Road Runner Show Episode 40

Felix Hits the Deck 35mm Scan

The Road Runner Show Season 3 (ep 11)

Recently I acquired 3 episodes of the Road Runner Show that used to air on CBS. This is one of those episodes with full cartoons and wraparounds. 

The Bugs Bunny Show Season 3 (episode 12)

This is from 16mm scan of season 3 (episode 12) of the Bugs Bunny Show when it aired on CBS. The first film is Sahara Hare, even though the end credits state that Transylvania 6-5000 was supposed to have aired. ABC/CBS would edit the cartoons and and sometimes swap cartoons without making the necessary changes to credits. When TBBS aired in CBS, there was no interstitial animation.

Farmer Al Falfa's Ape Girl (1932)

This is not a new scan of mine, but I was able to obtained a copy of this from a collector. It cannot be shared publicly, but on here has been okayed.

Box Car Blues (1930) 35mm scan

This comes courtesy of Jerico's efforts. This is a 35mm scan from the BFI. It is soundless, so I added the soundtrack from a 16mm print. The opening and end cards are missing.

Hey Hey Fever (1935) 35mm Scan

This has been in the works for a while now. My friend Jerico found an individual who had this 35mm nitrate print of Hey Hey Fever. I was able to broker a deal to have it scanned at Black Hawk films. 

I have received some frames and am waiting to receive the drive with the scanned files. When I do, I will post the film here and be able to detail what kind of restoration work is needed.

With this, I have almost all the MGM Bosko films in some format (some 35, mostly 16).

2022 Restoration #3

I finished this restoration back in May 2022, but did not have permission to release it here until now. It is the late Betty Boop era cartoon Be Human. Above you can see the before and after comparison video. 

Earlier I had posted this, showing the repair process for a number of damaged and missing frames.

Mutt & Jeff Kickstarter Campaign

Sinkin' in the Bathtub 35mm Scan

I announced previously that I had obtained (through my very effective friend Jerico), a 35mm nitrate scan of the first official Looney Tunes cartoon. Based on your votes, this will be the next film that I restore. 

Unfortunately, the last two months have been very busy, and I'm am behind on several projects. I'll get a comprehensive update out tomorrow on everything that is and will happen.
