Kill La Kill is an insane anime and so much fun

I already commented beforehand but I will sasy Wotakoi was fun to watch and while I can't recommend Case Closed exactly, its something I consider a Junk Food anime since I love mysteries so much. I know you wanted shows but an anime movie I will always recommend is A Silent Voice (Koe no Katachi), its very depressing but heartfelt about the story of a deaf girl.

I've heard Yona of the Dawn is super great and under-rated Kill La Kill is an always for me after Gurren Lagann Kobayashi's Dragon maid is super cute fun Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions is probs my fave Slice of life romance. Devilman Crybaby is a trip of an animation. Idk how to describe it. And a brand new 2021 Pick is Fena: Pirate Princess. Mystery adventure. Superb visuals.

Don't think it's listed here yet, so I'm gonna pitch Gatchaman Crowds. It's my all time favorite anime, is a bit shounen-y, but mostly focuses on the characters and their differing ideals, and how those come into conflict with each other - there's only a few real action sequences in each of the two seasons. Also the character designs are great, and the MC's personality feels so different and refreshing, and how she deals with problems is always so interesting.

You said “no shounens unless it’s really unusual,” so maybe you’d enjoy Vinland Saga? It’s really mature/serious so it kinda borders more on seinen, but the basic premise is it’s an anime involving the Norse settlers of North America, and a lot of the characters are based on real historical figures. The whole series takes place in Iceland, Scandinavia, the Baltic Sea and the British Isles around 1000 AD. I can’t really say much more without spoiling but it’s really amazing!

I recommend oddtaxi. It is about a taxi driver and the people he drives around are all connected in some way.

I know its technically a Shonen & mainstream but it's A LOT more grounded and less "power of love and friendship will overcome literally any threat" than something like Naruto or Mha. If you're into vampires Shiki in an awesome show though a little bit lesser known. Psychopass and the movies are also all great, it's a dystopian sci-fi cop show

I recently finished Sentouin, Hakenshimasu! and loved it. It seems like a cross between Konosuba (of course) and Excel Saga, if you've seen that oldie. Looking back over the last few years, I can also recommend Hinamatsuri as a really quirky comedy, Kakushigoto as a sentimental comedy, Machikado Mazoku is a good magical girl parody, and Zombieland Saga as a great idol parody. Shadows House was an interesting, dark, um, not sure how to describe it. Not really drama or horror, not that heavy, but... interesting!

Trigun or desert punk would probably be up your alley, my fav is fooly cooly (FLCL) the OG season is like a 2.5 hour binge and its a work of art. Theres two newer seasons of it and theyre good too. When i watched it in highschool i liked it because of its chaotic storytelling and incredible soundtrack, and as im maturing i enjoy it for the complex drama and charictor growth. For the time it takes to watch, its totally worth it, although its a bit difficult to keep up with at times. Also, it has a flawless dub if youre into that.

Despite what most people say overlord is pretty good though I will admit the first 2 or 3 episodes are a slow burn but that's because its just showing who the characters are sets up the plot of that our main characters are the bad guys and if you want to cringe so much that your head recedes in to your chest cavity but still has really good jokes then my first love monster is the defacto anime for that man me and my friend laughed all day and night with that one, and lastly if you want a more mindbending anime then the mecha anime geneshaft is up there with the setting and how the story unfolds

A Place Further Than the Universe is a slice of life about 4 girls going on an expedition to Antarctica, each for their own diverse reasons. It made me laugh, cry, and feel genuine glee for the characters. It's a single season and easily one of the most beautiful works of art I've ever watched. I recommend everyone does themself the favour of watching it.

I’m betting you’ve already watched it Kippu, or someone else has already recommended it, but Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood was amazing, and I wish I could forget about to so I could rewatch it all over again. I recently watched Devilman Crybaby, and it’s absolutely bonkers and quick to watch. Just starting Beastars now, not sure how long it is.

You might enjoy Megalo Box. It’s an underdog story where a boxer tries fighting in a boxing sport where people have robotic arms and he chooses not to use them. The first season is pretty straightforward but the sequel season gets pretty story heavy

Steins;gate is really good, so good taste on that. I really like Kaguya-sama: love is war and Kobayashi's dragon maid. If you want something slower/a bit more somber I'd recommend 3-gatsu no lion.

Keep your hands off Eizouken was a very fun series about three girls trying to get an anime started. Edens Zero is a good shonen that's airing currently with space battles and cool sci-fi tech. Dr Stone is great, about people who get stuck in a future with limited tech who have to rebuild society
