In other news, I've released some new music for my venerable associates, colleagues, and masters. This track is something I'm particularly proud of. I even busted out the guitar in this one! It's going to be a backing track for the next video. And the general public will be able to listen to it for free on my Bandcamp after the video release.
The exploratory phase for my next video is basically complete at this point, save for a few loose ends that I still need to investigate. ššš
At this point, I'm going to begin writing things up and considering the thematic content of the work I'm analyzing. As I've stated previously, it's a relatively unknown ARG. I'm really excited about this one. I've only pretty recently committed to taking ARGs seriously as an art form and I'm still trying to figure out what that really entails.
It seems to me there's a lot of untapped potential in the art form that has yet to be realized, particularly in reference to Guy Debord's "Situationism." I need to flesh this out a bit more; it's just something that's been on my mind. But my reasons are as follows.
While some ARGs are shallow marketing efforts, I'm solely referring to independent projects here. But it would suffice to say that the ARG is a form of art that doesn't necessarily lend itself to commodification; ARGs don't tend to require you to buy anything. They also take a certain collective effort on the part of the audience that I've really only just started to consider the implications of.
Anyway, this is the sort of thing I've been turning over in my mind. My script will probably touch on these points and expand on them in the context of a critical analysis. The ARG I'm analyzing is, in some ways, very typical of the form. So, I'm hoping to use this as a chance to really interrogate certain tropes.
I'll leave it there for now. Thank you so much for your support!
