This has been my favorite song for 40 years. For me it’s the perfect song. It has the hard driving force for the first half and the sweet singing melody in the second half. No one can match Duane Allman on the slide guitar. He just takes it to a whole other level. Rita Coolidge actually wrote that piano change part in the second half. She was living with one of the band members at the time and playing it at home. After they broke up she heard this song on the radio and realized he had taken her song to the band. She never got any credit for it. When her ex died, he left a daughter who eventually got his share of the royalties from this song. Rita was just glad she was taken care of. Class Act!
