In East York- a suburb just outside downtown Toronto, ON, life couldn’t have been better for one Canadian family. With parents as police officers and a long line of law enforcement ingrained in their history, 14-year-old Stefanie Rengel & her younger brother Ian were well protected. But in 2008, that would all change. Just hours after singing karaoke in the living room on a snowy New Years Eve, this loving household was unknowingly set to fall apart. Soon, an unexpected visitor would show up at the foot of their driveway. Someone who’d been lurking in the shadows, concealing a knife…but this person didn’t show up to Stefanie Rengel’s house on their own accord. Instead, they were sent by an individual arguably more evil than the person holding the 8 inch blade.
