But on Easter Sunday, Mark Staudte, husband and father of four, suddenly dropped dead in his home just a day after his 61st birthday. Five months later, the Staudte’s 26-year-old son developed symptoms similar to his father and died a few days later. Then in June of 2013, their 24-year-old daughter began to fall ill and was hospitalized with renal failure and brain hemorrhaging. Many wondered if the Staudte family was plagued by bad luck, but was there something more sinister happening in the background?
