Felony Friday - Stay Strong (Follow-Up)

(Special Follow-up to “Stay Strong”) Ronald Lee Haskell, a 34-year-old man raised in a devout Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints family, was conditioned and committed to follow his predestined role as “man of the house” upon his eventual marriage. When he took sentiments of the Mormon Church’s ideology too far however, things quickly turned violent. Melannie Kaye Lyon, Ron’s wife - knew she had to get out - yet found herself stuck between the familial roles established by the church and the destructive clutches of her abuser. Most knew her husband Ron as jovial, fun loving, and amicable on the exterior... but behind closed doors, he was everything but. Melannie would finally break free from Ron and file for divorce with the support of her extended family, but not without consequence. Ron Haskell eventually sought vengeance on 6 innocent members of the Stay family in a multi-state rampage that seemingly shocked everyone but those who actually knew him closest.

I don't know I was a member of the LDS and I did not have this kind of experience with them it's with them in fact my daughter is a member and member and she's full fledged it really into the church and Yes they are totally changed It is believed that a man cannot enter into heaven without his wife and he cannot abuse his wife that's a sin I got my divorce because my husband my ex husband abused used me that's one of the reasons my divorce was approved through the LDS Church so so no that is not true a lot of things people say At the church is just not true It's the individual who interprets what they read How it's how they interpret what they are taught that It's not the true gospel because a lot of people that's not how it's supposed to be women are supposed to be put above Men treated with the utmost respect And beating them is a big no and and that is what I said I've never ever Seen that growing up and I grew up in the church It's all in how the person interprets the message It's like that in all churches that's why there's a taliban in all these mutt and Muslim religion the taliban is not Muslim OK so you have you have to remember there's always these people who are outliners and all religions

Thank you so much for the context surrounding the LDS church. I am former LDS and I wish more people understood the inner workings of the church and the psychological effects that it has on members and ex members.
