Felony Friday - Impulse Control

In September of 1982, 25-year-old Kathy Hicks, an Atlanta, Georgia native, was looking forward to the Delta Airlines softball tournament in Oahu, Hawaii. Being a longtime employee of the airlines and a hard worker, she looked forward to a getaway on a beautiful island surrounded by friends and coworkers. When Kathy arrived in Oahu on September 14th, she was greeted by her cousin Robert, who was stationed on the island as a First Lieutenant in the US Army at the Schofield Barracks. But just five days after arriving, Kathy’s severely beaten body was found in a ditch on Nuuanu Pali Drive. Investigators handling the case had plenty of details of her comings and goings while in Oahu, but some of the information their witnesses received was potentially wrong and eventually the case went cold. It would take nearly 37 years before a crime committed nearly 4700 miles away led investigators to the alleged assailant.
