i think he means that he's overwhelmed by joy at seeing such a cool guy back again to entertain us! it must be physically affecting him.

Mal Radagast

your comments on the other hand... Not cool.

Mal Radagast

that's okay, i was excited for botc and Sam's in it so i'm DOUBLE EXCITED now!!!1!1!!

Mal Radagast

or maybe y'all are just jaded *to* their content by binge-watching and developing parasocial relationships driving a sense of nostalgia for "good old days" because you want to feel the way you felt when you discovered the show (and perhaps the game). personally, i love the new stuff and it feels fresher than ever! while he could be entertaining, Adam had an awful habit of hogging the spotlight (ironic given that Dom is the Main Character) and pushing everyone else out of the way to yell his own bits and theories. (usually wrong ones, which he refused to let anyone convince him otherwise). his big-brain plays also cost him the game more often than not - which, hubris is funny and all but there's only so much joy you can take in watching a bigheaded manchild trip over his shoelaces again and again.

Mal Radagast

oh? i haven't seen any update on this, and just kinda assumed that people calling for him back were doing the thing we always do and letting it fade into the past without any real change or accountability. ... would be delighted to hear that there was a genuine misunderstanding of some kind this time, instead of the all-too-common disappointment.

Mal Radagast

Seems like the game would have ended faster is Laurie brought up to everyone he was drinking with Sam the nights of no kills. He seemed to hold on to that for some reason.

Grant Zabel Sr.

Crazy ending here - what a way to finish a game! I see both sides on the Sam See commentary. Definitely his best game yet but I would have liked to see a different flavour of Demon. I'm OBSESSED with Emily - she was the standout for me this game. Fantastic deductive plays, excellent social player and just seems like a genuinely lovely human. <3

Jay

I'm usually pulling for the good team, because it's fun to watch the pieces all slowly come together but I was really rooting for Sam. He played a fantastic game and good was chasing their tail until the second to last day. This was easily his best game as demon and I think he would have won if Emily hadn't lived so long. Also, shoutout to Emily and Sam for not wanting to win by resorting to more skeevy/lame methods like rule misunderstandings.

Ash

Can we get Arif as a guest on one of these monthly BotC's, Arif has great clocktower content, would love to see it.

phil

I love that it's not just that he's sourced chat gpt, but he's additionally making it sound like he's about to read it for the first time🤣🤣

Micah Newby

I think it was hard with so much sober dreamer info the story tellers had to make a choice & they chose to do a great job covering the zombul world early but this lead to there being to few zombul candidates later. Evil had to push a posioner or a drunk world harder. Tough final day for evil, but tense though out the rest of it. Great watch - great job by everyone involved. Love botc & nrb

phil

Then on the last day when Chris posits the world that Sully could be the minon a subdued "noooooo i'm the plauge doctor"

phil

Incredible game! Always sad about the result, but shoutout to Sam See, who wanted to check in about if he was going to win the sporting way by not correcting a mistake.

Alex Smith

Killed by the Assassin's ability

Mazzis

Did I miss something here? When was Tilly's first death as the fool?

Aditya

My understanding was they could see the profile pictures they were using, not the actual video happening in the moment.

Beth

A couple of the comments made by players in this video made it seem like they could see each others' faces. I'm not mad by any means, just curious if that's the case, and if it has changed from earlier online BOTC episodes?

rojowo

Everyone has gotten so good at BOTC and I love all of the new people coming on and spicing things up. Now that things have settled down on the Adam front and the facts are coming out, I would really love to see Adam come back. I'll admit that I was in the camp in the beginning that was upset with what I thought Adam had done, but after hearing more about what happened from different sources, I would like to see him back on NRB, even if it's only in a guest role

Natassia Hole

Just caught up with this, I thought Sam See did great and just got unlucky! I always think he plays very well socially, is quite good at subtly sowing seeds of doubt about other players, and comes across as genuinely good. Also credit to him for trying to make sure he’s playing in a sporting way! Very happy for a Laurie win though 🥳

Beth

This was a doozy! I think this is probably Sam's best game as a demon yet! Even at the very end when he got cornered, he managed to paint a plausible reason he couldn't nominate, but unfortunately they decided to go with it anyway.

ElloryQueen

I think the only thing I would have wished Sam to do there was to go harder that the ST's as Poisoners were framing him by Poisoning the Banshee. I think in general he is too acquiescing when defending himself. He did say in final 3 that after they kill Ivan that he is ok to be nominated tomorrow, which even if he wasn't the demon he should absolutely not be ok with because that is still him losing the game. The only other backseat comment I could make is that I think Ken and Ben should have given out Zombuul one or two more times to the Dreamer, or maybe settle on selling a summoner world, because that info was game breaking!

Steven Scott

Yeah. It didn't read like a selfish scheme to me either. Rather just an unnecessarily risky plan that backfired in a way that unfortunately really ruined the game for Tempest.

Mikael

Right! That makes sense! Thank you for the explanation ☺️

Jay ❕they-them❕

The live in-person BoTC games have seasons (and kickstarters). But Patreon was always supposed to have monthly episodes of online BoTC. All year round. The Patreon games were on pause for a while last fall and winter, because NRB and the Pandemonium Institute paused their professional collaboration, but now they're back, so we should keep getting these every month.

Alex H. Larsen

I still don't think Adam was actually trying to steal the Demonhood in that game. I think he was going for the "you are better at lying if you actually believe it"-tactic to give his Demon a solid social bluff, and that he planned to fill Tempest in the next day. But the bluff worked too well, so Tempest just threw in the towel immediately.

Alex H. Larsen

Was really hoping evil would take the win this time. If you’re open to suggestions I’d love to see a pithag game in the future. It’s been awhile and that’s my favorite character.

K L

What a strange comment

Drake

I feel the same way but I'm not even hopeful that the old cast could come back. I wish I could erase my memory and watch all of BoTC again

No Name

Sullivan is such a mood in this: pulls outsider, gets killed first, just chilling in bed the whole game

No Name

That was a fun game. Difficult for evil, Sam got unlucky with the Laurie drinking.

Anton Mohlin

Very enjoyable to have a game with so much valid information, but still have a puzzle to solve. Doesn't feel like Ivan and Sam had many other options to play since they both had quite passive roles, but they played well with what they had.

Anonymous Geoff

Thanks NRB. Very enjoyable and I really feel for Ivan and Sam. I dread pulling the evil token and did it 3 times in the one night not long ago; it was so hard! I love how kind everyone is in these games, and of course they're funny. Well done everyone.

Tammy Driessen

More spoilers: Yes the town played a blinder with all the tools they had. A lot of wins I have with evil is by forcing people to make snap descisions because time is running out. The Professor bringing back the fool effectivly gave good an extra two rounds to muse as well as a 99% confirmed good player.

Other Barry

Also some people need to remember that it’s easy to backseat game Clocktower when you can see all the roles and hear all the important conversations with no time or social pressure on you.

Dom was Right

Credit to Sam for going into the end of that game in a pretty rough spot and still trying to sell a poisoner (as well as worrying about trying to play in a sporting way!) Evil seemed pretty sunk by that point with so many people basically confirmed good, but at least they went down fighting.

Dom was Right

Don't really get the sam hate here, his biggest issue is just being too helpful trying to solve the game while being evil but that's not at all unique to him, he mostly just got unlucky, with a not great boffin ability (spoilers) . . . . . . . Like despite being good content, the end shows why the combo can immediately fall apart. Especially given town had convinced themselves there wasn't a poisoner. Laurie not bringing up he had drunk sam despite that being his plan was pretty rough. The storytellers picking assassin to bluff other demons despite there only being 1 survive execution/kill during night townsfolk in play. And it's not like poisoner is too strong night 2 as you can just target dead body's if evil is winning too hard. Even just who was getting killed was largely out of sams control given they were 2 self nominations, a golem pick, and everyone believing ivan was evil, which with the shigenja's and ivans placement, Laurie's borderline provability (sailor!boffin is too strong for that town) and dom reviving the only death counterclockwise, really painted a target in his direction Like i really don't think most players would win in his situation

Sadagus

They can nominate, however they can also register as dead and thus be unable to nominate, and the later supported Sam's bluff while the former would have just outed him as the definite zombul

Sadagus

They need to get some of the old cast back for BotC. Barring a couple of obvious exceptions, some of the newcomers are pretty ordinary to watch in BotC specifically. They might be better suited to other NRB content and that would be great too. In general, I feel that NRB crew are trying their best but some of the latest content just feels jaded; they seemed to be burned out and going through the motions at times. Which is perfectly understandable and relatable. But the fact remains that, there's not as much joy and laughter as there used to be in these videos. What wouldn't I give for another BotC series with Adam, Sullivan, Dom, Jon, Laurie, Ken, Holly, Mara, Luke, Brooke, Chris, and Dan as players with Ben and Tom as storytellers! If new approach isn't working, going back to their own classic formula might be really good for NRB.

DunkTLunk

i swear ben has said in a previous game that a dead zombuul can nominate?? it was something like 'two people can nominate, well actually three but that would out the zombuul', indicating that zombuul's that 'look' dead aren't actually dead and can still nominate, allowing for a situation like this???

Sav

Before watching: I'm excited to see Laurie play again it's been so long! I miss Tom as storyteller (I don't count the in-person games cause they're kinda their own thing)

No Name

Why is that?

Emir Samardzic

UK just put it's clocks back an hour on the weekend. So previous 2am is now 1am.

Ryan Winwood

I'm assuming you're not English. The

Ryan Winwood

I feel the need to counter all the haters and say I think Sam's awesome. My guy has been stuck as the demon for 3 games in a row and yet is still chill and sportsmanlike. Can't wait for Daddy Ben to run a summoner game just on the off chance that the summoner will make Sam the demon AGAIN.

Brad

Where's the new video for today? Its usually uploaded by 1

Dana Rodriques

I was excited for BoTC but... Sam's in it... Not cool.

John Gracys #1 Fan

That was truly such a weird play. I've never really liked the "you are better at lying if you actually believe it"-tactic. Even if his plan had worked correctly, surely it would have been more fun to have Tempest in on it.

Mikael

Well, this was a sad game for Sullivan, he spent most of it on his phone.

Emir Samardzic

It's so upsetting when Sam is on a video.

Alex Bodman

Prefer the older layout if that’s possible to reverse

Daniel King

i know sam see gets a lot of flak for not being the most successful demon but i think this game really shows what a class act he is

emma

The moral opposite of Adam absolutely screwing Tempest (who was on his own team) by manipulating him to kill himself in order to get himself promoted to Demon.

Ryan Winwood

Honestly, huge props to Sam See for thinking in terms of sportsmanship in a game like BotC. That shows tremendous understanding of the social contract that comes with boardgaming in general, but which is so extra difficult to judge in social deduction games like this one. I really appreciate that he took the opportunity to just check with Ben and Ken. I agree with their assessment that in this case of Chris' understanding of the rules was useful for him and not unfair, but the fact that he asked at all really shows that he is a good dude.

Mikael

God I really hope so!!

Jay ❕they-them❕

Shocking ending 😱

Matthew Shaw-Thomas

SPOILERS . . . . . . . . . . Geez, when’s the last time the evil team has won one of these? All these rough games for evil are getting pretty sad to watch, especially seeing Sam fail over and over

Will Seamon

Emily should have learned that Chris is either Scarlet Johansson or Florence Pugh.

Zachery Gaskins

See, I always root for evil. They're the underdog who's outnumbered and outgunned. Also, they have to play well consistently to win, whereas good can just get lucky once, on one day and win after a whole game of knowing nothing.

Ryan Winwood

Am I basic for always rooting for the good team to win?

Sam G.

Sam and Ivan evil team once again, good luck to both of them

BardBarianBoi

I think we're getting these once a month for good now!

YellowZangief

And here I was thinking the season was over
