NRB Plays The King's Dilemma | Episode 6

Hail to the NeRBs,

After the return of Clocktower, we now have the RETURN OF THE KING's Dilemma.

Yes, I just wanted to make a Lord of The Rings reference! So?

We are already mid-season with 6 whole episodes out and many more to come.

Brace yourselves for some treachery and witchery as we play The King's Dilemma.

Just to reiterate a couple of things: SPOILER ALERT! This is a narrative focussed game so if you have any intention of playing your own campaign of King's Dilemma then think carefully before you watch! Also, The King's Dilemma poses some serious moral and ethical quandaries for the players to debate while roleplaying as their houses, neither the players nor the game itself endorse subject matters raised here.

Thank you as ever for your support! We hope you enjoy the episode as much as we did making it!

Fun fact: The word ”kauppias” as in ”The Republic of Kauppias” is finnish and means merchant.

Need my month's dose of King's Dilemma plz

Rules note for future plays: Secret agendas should be handed out from lowest prestige to highest, this allows the houses with lower prestige to have greater access to secret agendas that benefit them and collect more prestige and Crave pts based on the checkbooks in the bottom of the center panel of your house sheets. If there is a tie for the prestige it goes to the lower house number found on the house cards. Looks to be some confusion around the Military resource - the resource is Influence - which is how mighty your Kingdom is and how you are perceived by other Kingdoms. This includes military might but also how you rule - with a strong fist, or a softer approach. Which is why some things like offending a diplomat or ****SPOILER**** the choice of praying for the Ambassador's child rather than using medicine causes movement in Influence. SPOILERS! Sullivan marked a Crave pt as majority signer on the end of the Enkhali War storyline - it should have been checked who signed all signable cards in that pile and the one who signed the most cards gets reward, in this case Crave pts, as they have been "most responsible" for that storyline of endless war. Love seeing this played through, keep it up!

will there be more of this?

Seeing everyone's spirits being crushed by this relentless game is the kind of high-quality content that I contribute for.

Phil Watkins

With a thousand hedgehogs, the existing army won't be going hungry soon.

Alex Kay

I do really love this game!

Richard DiDonato

I knew you'd do it. Conscription isn't fun, but its needed when the consequences are bad. Otherwise, great game, apart from the gaffe with shifting the tracker.

DoubleBrain22

Didn’t Sully do it?

Edith

Me, listening to the description of the “joust”: THIS IS NOT A JOUST 😩😩

Edith

Can't wait to watch. I was nervous that they started making BOTC videos that they may have stopped doing this series. I vastly prefer this series but that is my preference.

Joshua Hammack

****Spoiler**** This turn shouldn't have ended when it did. They forgot to move the balance tracker up 3 for the moral increase from the joust.

Da Swamp Monstah

I noticed that at 41:47 during the the tracker shifting for the joust Laurie forgot to shift the balance of the kingdom up by 3 when morale went up.

Laurie referencing Redwall at the start made me happy. Flashback to childhood lol 📖 🐁 🦔

Debbie Bridges

So excited

With a thousand hedgehogs, you have them all hold onto each other's little feet and hands, and each one curls just a little bit, and you create a giant spiny hedgehog sphere. From there it's just a broom to poke the hedgehog sphere in the direction you want it to go, and you can rule the world.

So much Dom-tent recently, piglets are eating well 😌
