Streaming

Yo guys so I'm thinking of doing more streams. In the time it takes me to make 1 video I could do like, 40 hours of streaming. Politics streamers are also growing infinitely faster than video makers and my channel has stagnated in terms of subscriber growth/viewer growth over the last 6 months or so even though I've released a number of relatively popular videos. From a practical standpoint it seems difficult to justify, even though I can cover topics much more organised & in depth in a regular video format, they just don't seem to reach as much of an audience.

If I was to pivot to doing more streaming, likely on the BadEmpanada youtube channel, which would likely replace the content I put on Empanada Report and impact the frequency of my videos, would you stay a Patron?

I have faith you'd manage to keep the streams focused and insightful, so as long as a good balance between streams and scripted videos is struck would be very happy to just see more from you in this way. The concern I hope is kept in mind is how easily streaming political content can become just 'reacts to X,' debates that achieve nothing but allowing people to flex or just putting out rapid, poorly thought out ideas that are not novel, insightful or well researched. Again, faith you won't fall into those pitfalls and totally happy to stay patron with the shift

Thank you so much for your video on caleb, you are one of the creators that I love to watch in long form doing any type of commentary on something you're engaged with, no matter the content, because it's always informative and just pleasant. I'm sure you will find a good balance between your edited stuff and your streams.

Would definitely still be a patron, but I'd be sad if you pivoted completely away from video essays. While more informal and regular streams are fun and all, what sets your work apart IMO is how thoroughly researched the content is and it'd be a shame to lose that content pipeline.

TBH, replacing your content on Empanada report to streaming is a good idea, and it would grow the audience if you invite other breadtubers and left-youtubers on your show. (I'd love to see you debate David Pakman).

Your main channel has been de-prioritized on youtube. That's awful because those are such great video essays.

I prefer your video essays to streams (and in general) but trying new things isn’t a bad thing and I get having to work the YouTube algorithm. I’ll stick around regardless.

I agree with this comment

Alejandro Gonzalez

I prefer your long form content but will back you until i run out of money :-)

Your video essays are fucking phenomenal and a gift to everyone, but I really enjoyed the maupin teardown and I would definetly watch streams

no

I prefer the long form videos because they are so well researched and I don’t have much interest in the political streamers/commentators. I would remain a patron if you continued to make long form analyses videos along with streaming. I do think the streaming would help you grow more of an audience, so I understand.

Yeah, that's the key term, focus. If you focus on streaming but still come out with your video essays, striking a balance between the two, then it would certainly be advantageous to your growth. However if you were to primarily pivot to just another political react streamer then in all honesty, I couldn't justify remaining a patreon myself. I think it should definitely replace what's on EmpanadaReport and it's fine if it impacts the production of the video essays slightly, like instead of one video a month, it's instead one every 6 weeks, that would be fine. It shouldn't get too out of hand though. Just my opinion, you're obviously free to use your best judgement.

I would hope that you wouldn’t completely abandon the video essays, because they are fantastic, but I would definitely remain a patron if you focus on streaming.

Derrick

I love the videos you make, but the live stream was fun. I'll definitely stick around.

I probably would continue supporting on Patreon for a while but I prefer long form videos over streaming and would end up watching less of your content
