Do you have any "fetch" questions for me?

When I made this video about teaching fetch to your dog, I answered all of the most common “troubleshooting fetch” questions that I hear frequently! Do you have any questions about teaching fetch that were not answered in this video? Let me know in the comments!!

It's awesome that she's so into it!! ;) It might be helpful to teach her to "come around". That will teach her to avoid slamming into you, and also help set her up to run out in a straight line after the next throw without having to do that hard pivot turn in front of you... You can see examples of me teaching this to our dog Indy at about 1:20 in this video https://youtu.be/AIFOZsn-bFE

Upon retrieving, my dog will run full force at me and just crash into me! I'm glad she's so eager to bring the toy back, but she leaps at me/ bodychecks me every time LOL. She's having such a fun time, so I actually haven't done much to correct it :) Maybe sometime I'll try getting her into a sit when she returns!

Yes you want them really excited and amped up! (But, if their energy is too much, then a little exercise might help them to focus... it really depends on the individual dog!) If you found something that works to get her excited about the game, go with that for sure! I totally get what you mean about losing steam too, lol. It happens to the best of us! That means you were doing a great job 😝

In some cases is it best to work on fetch when the dog is going to be the most excited and have the highest energy, so not exercising beforehand? As immediately upon coming home from work this evening, I took my puppy outside and she immediately started vigorously playing tug and it naturally led to some short throws until I ran out of steam from being so enthusiastic.
