Well, in the Japanese version, it was cutting out hiragana. 70 characters (give or take, depending on some circumstances). They don't have a "Z" or "Y" (for example). While I'm usually not fond of localization, this one was kind of necessary, unless you wanted to trap anyone that doesn't understand how to read Japanese into not understanding the plot of this episode.
