Extended Progress Update: 20 September 2024

Hi Returning Visitors,

Key highlights of this update and reminders:

• Remember these emojis (☕💕☀🚩) from our September Content Schedule? I recently finished and coded that section just a few days ago.

• Scenes in Turn the Page tease out a myriad of social dynamics! While also reminding readers of a particular moment in Chapter 6 of Book One.

• (I don't believe I've ever had a Starbucks?? 🙃☕Maybe 'partaken in' fits better there.)

• Currently within Book Two's overall plot outline, your Returning Visitor is at Turn the Page. I bet you'll never guess who's about to barge inside for a chat.

• Book Two Snippet: This definitely wasn't on A's bingo card for a Corvin family dinner!

I never knew people were so passionate about their coffee until reading blog posts about how to craft exquisite latte art—the precision and science. It's impressive! The reason for this reading on my part has to do with what can happen during your time at Turn the Page, not just the ambiance/realism of A. Corvin performing their job, but what it means for you!

What I wrote most recently is about 33k words.

Thank you for the many well wishes about my dad's surgery! 💐Caring for him took priority over writing for the start of the month, but since then, I've been able to complete a chunk of this chapter and find a better balance. My usual writing blitz is back underway! :D I did go back and smooth a few things in my files in addition to adding one or two specific variations for a few of you. Most notably, a scene where R is more hesitant if not kissed at the reclaimed mine in Chapter 2 and then an alternate scene with Mal after a dream depending on how affectionate you're being with them. Oh, I also added A reacting to solo Mal-mancers in what I wrote recently!

All of these little details hopefully let you have more fun while reading.

Some highlights of what I just wrote:

• Mal might visit for another 'drink trade' with A where your romance/affinity with them directly influences scenes.

• You may notice A's pouring technique to create the 'microfoam' for latte art can be shaky, if not nervous, with certain crushes and events triggered. (It's possible for Mal to express an opinion on these as well. 👀)

• Rarely, Mal will pull your MC into the kitchen for a private moment! 🥰

• All of this is then interrupted by a walkie talkie's crackle, except it's yours while A. Corvin is standing directly across from you. I debated on whether to make the ensuing conversation random or based on a choice of yours, but I went with your bestie tailoring what happens, so you'll better enjoy replays.

• There are four unique conversations among the Fernweh gang! 🌲

• You'll then get to contend with an unexpected arrival in Turn the Page.

And all of that^ is before I tell you I included a ridiculous (affectionate) amount of latte art designs with hidden meanings for you to unlock while replaying Book Two. It isn't simply pretty milk foam. ☕ Each one links to a unique exchange/interaction.

With how I write TFS, the smallest of things will have meaning/come up again.

Soon, I'll be getting into the locations I teased in our last Extended Progress Update. This particular chapter is an itinerary determined by your past choices.

"A Verner?" Alina clarifies, disbelief cutting into how she typically regards her brother. Her initial surprise gives way to bafflement when James says absolutely nothing to contradict how this appears. She rests her hand on the rail again, clenching it, before Alina follows James to where he just pointed at.
