Lacuna Rambles/Thoughts/Gif Reacts #1: Achievements! π
Added 2024-04-08 12:30:01 +0000 UTCSome of you are casual collectors of achievements, while others might enjoy the hunt for them! (You can also always turn them off with how I have the books coded. π) Regardless of your play style, it's my hope that the achievements catch your attention! There are hints within them and often some humor, but I've been noticing a slightly disquieting trend in Book Two's.
They're kind of mean.
'Taunting' or 'riddled with dark humor' might sound better; however, I was looking at my notes, and I think that word fits too. π The ??? is exerting more control this time around. You might be able to uncover outcomes that will earn a persistent comment in the form of a trophy that you'll know isn't from the narrative because it's just a bit too exacting and pointed. We have one called: Curiosity Killed the Cat* where the paired text is vicious along with another that's funny at first until you realize more about why it's named like that. I encourage you to always read more deeply into things, even the achievements. They will adapt to your story. :D
It's important to notice all the little ways the ??? exerts influence!
Some of these trophies are going to be hard to unlock, almost like they are forbidden (?), but that's what guides are for along with your fellow readers and myself answering questions! (Hear Me Now is one of these! It links to a special bonus scene if the ??? is getting closer to the MC. Your nightmares might take on a different meaning if you can earn favor with them. It isn't a pathway I anticipate many readers going down because it's dark in a different kind of way than what we've seen so far.) Aside from that, there are media references, sometime song links, digs, and jokes in the achievement text. (Obviously, the digs aren't ever me @ your MC!)
While achievements are not a part of our Book Two alpha build, I enjoy making notes while writing and adding them in at the very end. ππ

It's rare, it's very true! I think it originates from Colombia, but I'm not sure, would have to make some research :v I know it has some cool variations too, I'll search after class! Sorry Aelsa, we wuve you!

2024-04-08 21:22:23 +0000 UTCHonestly, I just roleplay the entire time I'm reading π€£ if Phoebe knew little achievements with comments about her actions would pop up every now and then, and she had the power to make that not happen, you bet your behind she would exercise that power. Also helps that Phoebe is close enough to me that being her while I read is as easy as pulling on a t shirt π€£π€£

My husband says Armas isn't common in Guatemala, and as for the USA, the California town I grew up in had something like a 90% Latin American population and I had never heard it before. I have met no other Armas' in any other places in the USA either. My husband's sister is along the east side of the USA and she hasn't either. So I don't think Armas is too common in general? Other than my husband's sister the rest of his family is still in Guatemala. (we have derailed the comments on this post. lol. sorry Aelsa.)

2024-04-08 15:45:48 +0000 UTCI actually tend to play with achievements off - Phoebe is actively trying to resist any and all outside influence, and turning off the achievements makes it feel a little like I'm shielding her in my own way. "Write your own story, don't worry about what past you's might have done or what future you's could do" Very fun to know the achievements in book 2 are more ??? Focused - deepens that meaning for me ππ That said, I do like how personal the achievements are when I play Lucy

There's a reason Alex's Resistance stats are that high. Im putting them through the horrors because I Need to find out more THE ???!!! My perilous partner, my devious darling, my ominous.... im running out of descriptions bUT! I remember you mentioning the Hear Me Now achievement and although I dont think it would be canon for Alex (hm. maybe. I'll think about it), Im definitely going to play at least one questionable_interest playthrough with them π₯°
