Lacuna Rambles/Thoughts/Gif Reacts #3: And They Were Roommates! π
Added 2024-02-27 13:30:01 +0000 UTCI bet some of you thought this was going to be a cute reference to this trope. π
It isn't.
"Because we'd be in the loony bin together, though, yeah, I'd want you as my roommate," B admits.
B's small smile helps you to return it with one that is more genuine, less unhinged.
"Trust me, the real definition of 'insanity' applies to me, not you. I try to leave every morning and magically loop back," B patiently explains. "I'm not okay with that or with this, but I believe it's possible when this town isn't right. We both know that deep down. At least you didn't see anything scaryβ¦"
The implied 'yet' hangs between you.
Perhaps, this can take on a new meaning later on, but for now, it might make you wonder what the Returning Visitor saw to make them question their sanity. ππ

2024-03-10 14:30:41 +0000 UTCOh, I agree that B and the MC can serve as a source of comfort to each other, possibly even stability, since they're from their old lives prior to the return visit. It does heighten on B's romance path where Bee expresses more to them. π§‘π₯Ί That could be a fear for some MC's--to end up like their grandfather, oof. There are quite a few variables at play in this section; some scenes are 'hidden' compared to others due to combos.

2024-03-10 14:30:37 +0000 UTCI will forever associate the handshake emoji with you. ππ It would indeed by 'an old school creepy asylum in Fernweh'. π² I have a fondness for them since I did an architecture project on a historic one in my area that's no doubt haunted. (People used to mess with it like something out of Grave Encounters. *sighs* It was fenced off though and then left to slowly rot/decay into being condemned once the funding was cut decades ago due to the upkeep/numbers.) Anyway, yes, you're right! There is a location inspired by this idea with its own twist/history, etc.

2024-03-10 14:27:01 +0000 UTCOh, that would be intriguing! This scene is choice-dependent with a few different ways to handle what the MC witnessed; this is the more unhinged yet honest (?) reaction to it. π You can also say nothing, make a joke, try to ease B into it, etc. (There are like ten choices.) Regardless, I second poor B and poor MC. At least they have each other! π§‘

2024-03-10 14:18:00 +0000 UTC*inserts the 'honey, you've got a storm coming' meme: here. π©β‘* I'm (mostly) kidding... for now, but I'm glad that you're on the lookout for more B angst and our upcoming alpha drops! π₯°

2024-03-10 14:15:34 +0000 UTCThank you so much for your kind words! π I'm extremely honored that you enjoy getting lost in TFS to the extent that you /want/ to come up with theories about its world and characters. It's encouraging to me, especially given my style of writing and all of the little interwoven threads that I hope readers actively seek out. :D I can't say too much due to spoilers, but I always love reading theories! However, your first sentence will be coming up sooner than you think. Loss of control is a theme of this book, although how the MC reacts can be tailored. It's an important theme due to what develops in this entry that carries over into the series. π² Also, you hit on a brilliant point: 'the characters /and/ the MC'. π The Fernweh Gang will also be coping and addressing things in their own way. Thank you again! π₯°

2024-03-10 14:10:59 +0000 UTCThis is a mood. They tend to be in standard shades of beige or sometimes navy; maybe they could mix and match to have a beige and navy one? π

2024-03-10 14:00:28 +0000 UTCThat curiosity will slowly but surely deepen along with being sated! π This scene that's before this one (because the above excerpt is from a choice option) is /very/ pivotal for the series moving forward and the potential toll on the MC. I can't wait for you to read it. :D

2024-03-10 13:58:33 +0000 UTCI am eyeing this very curiously because of how B and MC are - esp on B's romance path - are kind of each other's safety spots. It's also terrifying to think about MC going down the same path their grandfather did in terms of seeing and being confronted by eldritch horrors. I wonder if believer/non believer AND the mask (anger/sadness/fear) will affect these interactions π

2024-02-28 16:11:24 +0000 UTCNew friendship level unlocked: I would share a room in an asylum with you. You know it would be an old school creepy asylum in Fernweh.

2024-02-28 14:45:15 +0000 UTCI wonder if the MC's believer/not a believer stat can affect this scene. Either way, poor B and poor MC. π₯Ί

2024-02-27 14:30:37 +0000 UTCI'm interested to see as the characters and the MC go further and further into the depths of insanity and potentially question what is real or not. The MC moreso considering their vivid nightmares, that could be anything from a mirror reality that flips everything to a completely different reality to a potential of being entities that are continuously stuck in a loop and are forced to always repeat it with the nightmare versions of themselves being other versions of themselves who haven't managed to escape the loop. I have so many theories and I like the idea that we could potentially start going insane questioning everything. By far in my top 2 fave IFs that are out there. Love this and very much appreciate you for this Aelsa and all the work you put into this!

2024-02-27 14:15:07 +0000 UTCAt least the MC and B can have matching grippy socks. Truly the peak of modern romance
