Answer: Hmm, the Verner mansion probably doesn't merit being called a landmark despite its incredible architecture; yes, do imagine R scoffing lightly in the background. They disagree with my assessment.
I'm hesitant to answer this because you all will be discovering new locations as we progress through the series. The Fernweh Historical Library is historically significant enough to earn one of those heritage plaques, not to mention it's much too large considering the amount of cardholders frequenting its marble halls. The obelisk is interesting along with the courthouse that's grand. Fernweh is a small town with a very rich history and natural/man-made wonders.
So, my final answer is a bit of a non-answer! 😌
There are many locations for your MC to explore, even some that might seem forgotten by most of the townsfolk. I'm excited about them.
