(I somehow can't see Mal having the patience to beautify the town, although that would be so fun to imagine A being happy about planting baby flowers and Mal is just standing there with a shovel, going along with it for A's benefit. I could see it.) Hmm, I don't believe Mal's discomfort was caused by you; perhaps, the situation? I think sometimes them always working helps to keep their mind off of their lack of free time? This might sound contradictory, but I think having the chance to speak to a special someone or to hang out with A in a relaxed setting would make the work hours/duties weigh on them more--the taste of something different that's foreign. Mal would actually delight in that uncertainty; you being unable to pin them down into a certain box. I will say that it probably feels to Mal like they've read everything in Fernweh with how often they read. I'll hint by sharing they enjoy dystopian novels. :D That's a smart guess! π Volunteering can give them more access to watch people and be aware of what's going on in town. I will let you think more on it; they do sometimes help out A who often volunteers in the community, though A tends to do it for goodwill, etc. πβ€

Or was that just when they handed food out at the missing person search? If not, I wonder what else they do. Though I could imagine the volunteering and people watching goes hand in hand. I figure they volunteer in order to people watch πππ
