MAL??? I like how this connects to the end of book 1. If the MC isn't on friendly terms with the server, they say something quite mysterious, about "maybe next time/there's always next time" (paraphrased, I don't know the exact wording) haha, I have to ignore the rest and not think about it.

2024-09-04 18:39:15 +0000 UTCI am so, so happy to have brought you a bit of joy with my comment! It feels so great to know that, especially since your story has brought me so much entertainment which I am insanely happy about! I will keep gushing relentlessly! 💎 And S's dynamic really is SUPER rare, it makes them all the more special and interesting and it speaks volumes of your creativity as a writer. I like S because it's so rare for ROs in fiction to challenge the MC like they do. S is so snarky but in a chill, classy way and without any actual spite or arrogance. It's really wonderful! Feels like a super real, grounded dynamic

2023-04-18 13:19:52 +0000 UTCOh goodness, LJ! 🥰 I'm not sure I articulate how much your thoughtful comment means to me. It's incredibly kind of you to take the time to write this and share your love/passion for the characters and world of Fernweh; I can sense it coming through in your words along with how perceptive you are. Thank you! I do save comments; they can sometimes give me a boost on a gray day or perhaps one that's a little stressful, so yours has found its way into that folder. Readers like you do motivate me as I keep working away at Book Two's outline; it's very special to share TFS with you all. 💚 It's also so cool to me that this post inspired you to replay B's route. Their emotional side can make me melt while writing. although I can't wait for you to see what's in store for them in Book Two. I do think this route might surprise some readers next book. As for Mal, there can be some bitterness within their words if you read into them deeply. They can get mad, but it might take a certain confluence of events to push them that far because they have also built up a patience. I do think your observation is a very brilliant one--Mal does seem to react more (or a bit differently) around the MC; maybe the MC has a way of forcing them to feel a bit more? Hmm. 🤔 "Their whole personality feels like a cliffhanger" <-- Both Mal and I take that as a serious compliment. S's nightmare sequences can be so very intriguing! I love how they kept you guessing and wanting to learn more about the true meaning of their cryptic words and behavior. You're exactly right about those double-takes; it's a dynamic that I think can be a little rare in fiction, which is why I love gradually bringing it to life with S as their guard lowers. No worries about gushing! :D I appreciate all the thought you've given to Fernweh and its characters; it means everything to me. 😍💐

2023-04-18 12:36:03 +0000 UTCI am so SO intrigued about these characters... I hope you know how great of a writer you are! You created such an amazing universe with organic, truly interesting characters that all have their own agency. This post also inspired me to replay B's route, and their emotional side is just so sweet. Mal's response definitely turned my head! With how angry they can come off, I'd have expected them to have an outburst, not to be so eerily calm. I'm guessing they can get intensely mad from what they say to the MC. "You'd be sweet about it, but I'm just not that sort" or how they call them Killer and then say they're alike... Ughh they are just insanely intriguing. Their whole personality feels like a cliffhanger! In a great way. And I definitely noticed that about S! It's a really cool quality about their dynamic. The MC seems to kind of keep making them do these double-takes. I love how they keep a level head and their dry wit, but you can kinda like see they care and they NOTICE all that attention. Which is just so cool. The way they act in the nightmare also had me on the edge of my seat. I'm constantly like "WHAT DOES IT ALL MEAN??" And honestly, I'm loving it! Okay, sorry for gushing but I had to. You're an amazing author 🙌

2023-04-16 11:48:04 +0000 UTCOh, I was hoping Mal's response would turn a few heads since it's such a unique answer that registers a bit differently than the others, even their wording can be striking. 👀 I'm also glad that you care deeply enough about the characters that this hurt to read; I was the same way while writing it! The TFS's characters' care for the MC can run quite deep even when not in romance due to all of their past history that can sometimes make sharp words cut that much more. (B is the exception; however, the fact that they are so close to the MC /now/ kind of makes up for it in a different way.) What you said about S is very observant! 💙 You might notice in Book One and even more so in Book Two that the MC tends to be the only person capable of either confusing or making S question their logic. It's an interesting dynamic with how steadfast they tend to be--this is hinted at in one of the nightmares when S's dislike of surprises is brought up. They like to be able to account for things and yet the MC isn't something/someone who fits those bounds. :D I'm happy you found this post insightful despite its bittersweetness.

2023-04-16 11:35:14 +0000 UTCI support you in taking down the MCs who might say this even Sparrow, though I know he would have to be pushed really far to say something this remotely cutting. I'm not sure if he could with J and R. But, yes, I've got your back in the brawl, for sure. 😏😉

2023-04-16 11:25:57 +0000 UTCOh wow, that hurt to read... I feel bad just thinking about it. Somehow, Mal's reaction is the one that strikes me the most. Not just because they're my favorite, but because it seems so deep. They instantly switch off their emotions, don't they? Maybe I'm totally overanalyzing this but it rings like a protection mechanism. And the immediate "I forgive you" just kinda hurts more. It's like they're used to it... As for S, I had a feeling they'd be the most level-headed of the group, but still! How dare the MC make them question themselves??? 😭 Especially when their logic is normally so unfaltering. Plain cruel
