Hello Everyone!
I must be feeling nostalgic to have selected a Princess Diaries gif because I adored this film as a kid. I also considered a The Devil Wears Prada gif; there is a specific reason as to why these two movies came to mind: fashion montages!✨ Anne Hathaway’s character undergoes a slight makeover in each one, which relates to something that comes up within the start of Book Two.
You will discover that Fernweh is in the grips of some unseasonably warm weather.

I'm so glad that you love this! 🥰 Bestie!R feels will always be a joy for me to write, especially given R's rather complex view of friendship along with how they have always regarded the MC in a unique way. (As in they hand-selected their childhood rival for 'reasons'.) It's very encouraging to me that you not only notice R's perceptiveness, but also how they can choose to use it for the good of those around them. I can vividly imagine Marcie's and Ruby's shopping trip; you've given it so much life while also including more details about Marcie's past that always intrigue me. (The mental image of an indignant Ruby spluttering on aquarium tank water has been occupying my mind as of late; this also makes me suspect that she must have done something in particular to earn it, haha.) Oh, you're quite right! Ruby would very much like to insist on paying (for all or at least some of the items), if the MC is open to it; she would want the outing to be her sincere treat. Oh, I hadn't thought of how their styles might blend after having spent time together in the stores with Marcie possibly even buying a few pieces that resemble Ruby's style or that she saw her admiring. This is precious! I could see R doing something similar in a more understated manner such as a particular handkerchief or tie since they are admittedly quite (read as: extremely) picky; however, the fact that they'd be willing to change at all is quite significant. They are more inclined to match/coordinate during in romance, although besties and a true, deep friendship can mean the world to the Verner heir. R can care deeply if they allow themself to. :D Marcie should get to experience this! It's my pleasure! I enjoyed reading your thoughts about Ruby and Marcie; you brightened my day. 💚💐

Thank you for this needed dose of bestie!R feels; I’m always touched by R’s perceptiveness and how it shows in the awareness and care R can express for the MC (and the others as well). I had so much fun springboarding off this snippet and imagining in detail how Ruby and Marcie’s shopping trip could go. There was lots of lighthearted banter and fond and amused reminiscing about their antics as children (like the time in first grade when Marcie shoved Ruby’s face into an open-top aquarium full of aggressive fish (she feels really bad about it now!)), and an ever-growing mountain of cute clothes and accessories that Marcie is pretty sure she can’t afford on her teacher’s salary, so when it comes time to pay for everything, while her protests over Ruby covering the majority of the cost are genuine, they are also a little halfhearted (it’s hard to say no in the face of this particular Verner’s generosity). (Also, even though their styles/aesthetics are very different, I think Marcie would incorporate a bit of Ruby’s tastes into some of her new outfits because Ruby is stylish, and more sentimentally, it’s a nice way to remember that outing. <3) I’m not sure if I’m going to be able to be strong enough to shift someone else into the bestie position when Marcie is romancing Ruby. Thank you for sharing this with us! <3
