Started watching Fate Zero again, when you started reacting. I completely forgot how good Kiritsugu's backstory was. Im slacking lmao π But yeah for me watching again these two episodes EASILY are the best so far π― π₯

2020-04-25 05:13:01 +0000 UTCif you remember early in the show they talk how kiritsugu is a despicable man and all this trash on him like saying he took down a plane of over 300 people just because his target was on bored and then we see what really happened now. These two episodes propelled Kiritsugu into my fav characters in anime so easily.

2020-04-24 20:47:25 +0000 UTCI think it's because this show just makes you feel like what you're watching are the plights of real human beings. There's no bullshitting around; no exaggerated humour that openly broadcasts "you're watching an anime". You can take everything seriously, and everyone's actions and motivations feel genuine and valuable. Most shows give you some contrived backstory, saying "you're supposed to feel bad for this character", and then that person ends up developing some boring, unrelatable, one-dimensional worldview (the Naruto series especially). Kiritsugu, on the other hand, chose this life. He wasn't forced into it for the sake of the plot, but rather became the person he "wanted to be when he [grew] up". And his perspectives continually changed over time. Even as a child, we see his belief that he has an obligation to make up for his mistakes and we see the burden it takes on him as he continues to break. Normally, characters are conveniently handed burdens that shape their lives. But Kiritsugu imposes his own burden upon himself. It just feels so much more human, and so much more intriguing.
