I finished the rough draft of book 2! It's clocking in at 117k and by the time all the edits are done I'm estimating closer to 125k.
This version of the book isn’t one that any gets to see. After I write a chapter I let it sit a day before I go back through to add words along with descriptions, make sure characters sound like themselves, and do some clean-up work. Then each chapter goes to my partner who does a quick edit before I go through those changes and then schedule chapters online. This is when you get to read the early chapters.
I only have 10 chapters left to work through and clean up before sending it over to my partner. Then book 2 will be in its First Draft.
I can’t wait until the status changes. It’s like I gained a level.
Book 1 is in First Draft Status, and I am slowly doing a second round of edits based on reader feedback. From there I need to find a line editor to go through and catch anything that has been missed up to this point. I’ll do one more final pass before the book is done.
My goal is to find a good narrator for That Which Devours. The money from Patreon/Ream goes toward covers, editing, and the audio in that order. So I money gets put into the saving account I move onto the next phase of costs. The next one is a line edit of book and getting the covers for book 2 and 3 booked since that can take months to get a spot. Then its time to save for audio of book 1.
